Please don't laugh but it has gotten harder to shift into first & second gear and I thought that even manual trannys needed some sort of tranny fluid. My neighbor thinks I'm the biggest dork in the world when I asked him. The girl I bought it from had similar trouble but said she had a new clutch put in?? I dont want to ignore the trouble even though it is sporatic (for now) and end up with a huge bill. As usual...thanks in advance. Michele

I had a similar problem with my 94 mazda and my husband crawled underneath and found I was missing a bolt to one of the Tranny mounts. Stick you tongue out at your neighbor and tell him it is better to ask a question he thinks maybe stupid than to ask no question at all. There is a dip stick under the hood to check the fluid level one should be marked oil or engine this is you oil the other usually looks like a little loop pull it and check the level it has marks on it use a white paper towel to wipe it clean and push it in and pull out again, make sure you are on level ground. this will let you know how full it is and using the white cloth will tell you if it is discolored. Any shade of brown is bad. Tannys are usually only good for about 70,000
