If I trade in my Cavy....

Ok, I'm finally becoming fed up with my 94 Cavy. I'm going to sell it and get what I can out of it (probably about $500) and save up the rest for a down payment. I'm leaning more toward either a Camaro or a 94-96 Prelude. But I want to get suggestions on any other cars that are good that you'd be able to find on a smaller lot. neons, nissans, hondas, etc.
Something that is fix-upable.

How about a later model Cavalier? Parts are cheap, initial cost is low and they are reliable.

Personally, I would get either an Eclipse or a Del Sol. Eclipses have good engines and can be built up good. There is a turbo AWD (GSX), turbo FWD (GST) or non turbo FWD (GS or RS). A GSX is usually around 10 grand, a GST you could get for around 7, and GS or RS's can be pretty cheap. If you dont want a DSM, I would go for a Del Sol with the b16a2. Its pretty fast for a 1.6 VTEC and it redlines at 8000 rpms. Also, I think 240sx's, Civics, and 6th gen Celicas are pretty cool too.

yeah I like a lot of different things as far as body styling goes, but my Cavy went almost 7 yrs b4 the engine gave up and I had it replaced. I'm trying to get another that will do me the same way (last for a long time). Honestly, I'm not into racing or anything and almost care less for having an engine that can do 0 - 60 in 2 sec. I do like the 240s but automatics in them are few and far between. If at all possible, I'm going to try my best to get the Prelude I've always wanted; or I saw a 98 Celica GS Convertible (cherry red) online last week. Hmmmm...just maybe. :banghead: :screwy:

Another Cavalier would be alright. But if you want something different then go with the Prelude you want.

Hmm... Domestic vs. Import again.

I would love to have a Prelude myself, but I couldn't afford it if I wanted to, parts are more, insurance is more, mileage and resale value are better though. I would rather have the Cavy or a Camaro, as I am an American! Just my opinion...

All though I hate Fords, the Probe has a damn sexy body and a Mazda motor, which is the only reason I would drive one. The GT V6 has a beautiful exhaust tone! I would take all the Ford emblems off and put Mazda logos on it though, hehehe!

I've had a lot of ppl tell me that Probes are POSs. I dunno, never had one. If ppl had told me 8 yrs ago that Cavaliers were trash, then I may have never gotten one. But my mom helped me get it (R.I.P. Grand Am) and she asked me if there were any particular cars that I liked that I would want, and since I knew someone with a Cavalier, I liked the styling (nothing else) and so I got one. It was 3 yrs old at the time. Damn, my car needs to retire already! Hence, the reason I'm asking for advice. :loser:

If you are saying eclipses don't forget the Talon TSI AWD Turbo, the 100% EXACT same car as the eclipse.

as for del Sol do not get one without a B16 motor, mine gives me a huge boner, but I race del Sols without B16s and they are slower than 2.2 OHV cavalier.

I would have to say a 1g or 2g GST or GSX Eclspe or TSI Talon or even a 2g or 3g 240sx. If you go with the 240 do a engine swap to the SR20DETT or the RB26DETT motor.

Like I said b4, I'm don't really care about being the fastest in town, so engine specs mean nothing 2 me :loser: :icon16: . All I really want is a good dependable car that looks decent, and I can find mods for. Something good off the line(production line)
