Hi all,

Almost a month ago I noticed the the 3 warning lights would come on and off intermitently, but lately they are mostly on. I haven't noticed any change in the driving, but thought it might be worth checking. Any ideas of what maybe the cause?

Thanks

When the instrument panel warning lights get flakey like you describe, almost always it's the alternator.

The alternator was replaced recently. It's the second in 2 years actually. You are correct - the first 2 times all warning lights would go off as the battery gets low, but this time it's only those 3. Also when I had problems with the alternator the lights usually turned on when I press the brake.

Two alternators in two years? The source of that problem is the source of all your problems.

I was thinking the same, but I have no idea of what maybe the cause. The voltage regulator maybe?

The voltage regulator is internal (inside the alternator). If you have a lifetime warranty, take it back and get another alternator to install. The failure rate of rebuilt alternators can be fairly high.

Yep, I'll second that. I've seen that too. Also for failing alternators the digital display on my 88 starts getting flaky, headlights dim when the brake is applied, the standard stuff.

Another vote for alternator. Replaced my 89 Camry alternator almost 2 yrs ago with same symptoms and solved the problem.
