Just found this site hope to get to know yall and talk about my favorite car the Z they are getting harder to find and those of us lucky enough to have one better hold on to it im in the prosses of buyin a 198-
280z its been sittin 3 tears and needs 4th gear but im gettin it on a great buy guys lettin me pay on it I really love these cars but have had a hard time finding 1 I could aford

Welcome! It will be nice to see someone else around here with one of the older Z's. Most of these threads pertain to 300zx's, but it seems like more people are starting to appriciate the old ones now that they are becoming classics. I hope you are able to get the Z you want. Nope its not a turbo.Actualy Iv got to go and move it from under the tree its resting under due to the bad weather we have comeing in tonight . I have been eyeing it now for about 2 years and finnaly caught some1 home to get more info.I paid 50 down on it and now feel like a kid on Christmas eve waiting till I bring it home lol. I will get a camera and take some pics soon has I can.I do knowI found very little rust on it and only surface at that.and to expand on my love of the Z iv had the luck to own a few sports and muscle cars T.A.s, two Challengers a few Camaros,5.0 Mustang boss a Mustang II some1 had shoehorned a built 302 in.That thing was scary.Even a beautiful 944 I bought in the true spirit of oneupsmanship after my newly Xed wife got herself a Volvo lol. I have always came back to and wanted Zs to that list its 2 240s 3 260s and now will be 2 280s the 80s are Zs not Zxs Im not knocking the Xs I just love the little 2 seaters how you seem more like to put it on rather than get in it the Zs iv had I always had to get rid of them for 1 reason or another 1 left little rusty parts of its self every where I went lol. 1 I totaled out when I found its curve limit painful lesson. Then after I married and had 2 girls. Has a dad my dreams come in 11th to family. Not complaining. So off they went to. This one aint goin anywhere I'll eat sawdust and shoe leather if I have to just kiddin :lol2: Well hope Iv not bored yall to much just lettin yall know its not love its a sickness now :screwy: Yall have a good 1 and if your down here in the south anywhere near where the big blows gonna come off the gulf like I am be careful and keep ya head down

wow that's quite the list.. good to hear you got the car you were really looking for... what are your plans for it now?

well soon has its in the drive ill go over it with a fine tooth comb and go from there I belive iv found another trans for it what id like to do is get another power plant for it to build it a little on the hot side bore cam turbo exhaust and better breaks and such but thats a ways down the road for rite now im just happy to have found one I have found others but they wanted more than I could offer so its been a bit of a quest for me I am sure after its on the road wheels and tires will be the first thing I do to it then Ill start buyin stuff from my list once I have it all then Ill build it the reason for two motors is that I realy dont want to do anything to the engine that came out of it and nothing to the body that cant be but back to stock has these cars get on up there in years they will be worth more stock not that I would ever sell but id like to keep the stock option there I do know once its been finnished has I want it iv herd that road Atlanta the race has a pre race for folks that want to run the course Iv alaways wanted to do that plus it will add something to this cars history so this is the start of a dream for me so to speak

Is that the stock paint on your Z I like the color in the pic it looks almost like its got a lil candy coatin on it. Are you going to do many mods to it if so what all you got in the works for it

mine, yeah that's a stock colour, but i'm pretty sure it's not the original paint job...

as for mods, not a whole lot to start with.. just a turbo-back exhaust, intake, boost controller and a bov.. hopefully this winter i'll get my hands on another vg30et and make a monster out of it while it's still on the stand.. if things go well i should be shooting for around 500rwhp.

You copying me, man? J/K...I'm shooting for 600hp where it counts...lol. I'm even planningn on dropping that bad bitch into a 240Z. They're the lightest of the Z cars at 2400lbs, so it will be a rocket ship. Fun fun.

Once more sorry. Yes I plan On takein my time, any mods will be on a engine I get from a yard. Iv built American powerplants b4. I just have to get some queries answerd. Who makes the best turbo,most bang for the buck? But I'll get it. I have use of a shop so tools arnt a prob. Alot of the work will be done myself like the porting and polish on the heads.

lol. I'm anything but in a hurry...I haven't even SEEN that thing in about 2 months due to lack of fundage. I kinda worded that wrong...instead of "take your time", I should have said "plan". It doesn't matter how fast you do the work and all...all that matters is that you think it through. That's what I meant. I already have a pretty good idea what I'm going to do...I'm just in need of funds. I quit my job last month. Planned on taking a week or 2 off...so much for that...I need to quit being so picky when it comes to jobs and just get something for now.

As far as "who makes the best turbo"...go with a reputable company and it doesn't really matter TOO much. It's FAR more important that you get the RIGHT turbo for your needs than who makes it. Make sure you plan the SYSTEM out...don't just buy a turbo...plan a turbo system that will best suit YOUR needs if you want to get the best results. Make sure the compressor and the turbine side are suited for your needs, get an intercooler that fits your needs and make sure you plan all of your piping and everything in between as well as taking into consideration all of your other mods...that can make or break you. We can't tell you what would be best for you...only you can figure that out.

I sure will plan. I always do thats part of my wish list. Years of buildin cars and bikes taught me that. Iv seen folks do some dumb stuff over the years. One dude tore his engine down junking the A/C only to find out later he needed the pully or atleast a pully. He had to do some fab work but finally got it. Ya talk about speed this bike shop I worked in we rebuilt a CBR 900 RR. The bike came to the shop in little pieces after he lost it in a curve shockin what a lil pebble will do at 60 mph. Anyhow we sent the frame to be made rite the pegs n wheels went to be cromed and we went to work on the engine Hi po cams, bored and stroked, rejeted the carbs. and set it up for nos plus better brakes. We figured 250mph easy.We drew straws to see who was the lucky one to test it when it was all done.I got it up to 150mph b4 I backed out of it. But man talk about a rush.The guy kept it bout a week guess he was a lil road shy he traded it for a Chevell SS to a guy who never rode who promptly took it out and got skinned up really bad and totaled the bike once more. Hell of a way to blow 10 grand lol. Wich reminds me I herd your mod list but nothing bout brakes.What size chute ya gonna use lol.

All I have right now is an engine. Brakes and suspention mods come later once I find the body I'm going to use and see what's goin on with it. Believe me...I wouldn't forget that...

I bought them off a guy who wants something diff on his car. For 300 bucks I couldnt say no! They should look killer on the Z. He has takein great care of them polished the wheels and treated the tires every week.
There aint a scrach on the wheels. I will go to the kronig site and find out the name of the style.

Dude...that thing is crazy. I noticed that too...the speedo couldn't even keep up. Fuckin nuts. Further proof that, if you want the fastest thing on the road, ride a bike. Also found a dyno video of a 701whp Hayabusa on that same site...

Not tryin to be gross Yall. But it looks like the piston took his hand off !!! I enlarged and played at slow speed and paused it frame by frame. Notice the red spray and at one frame he has nothing below his suit arm the sleeve ends and theres nothing there. Im almost sure it took it clean off. Man that was just soo bad. His forarm is clean, leather looks undamaged on the forarm. Try it at slow speed see if you see the same thing.

I didn't notice that. All I know is that it HAD to suck HUGE ball sack...surprised it didn't go clear THROUGH his arm...

actually i can still see his hand when he puts his arm out towards the ground. i do think i saw blood and it probably flesh from his forearm. beings his hand was on the clutch, it would have had to go through the hand grip and then to his hand. i think it just hit his forearm which happened to be right about the motor.
