Spring Compressor?RedCordCoupe 07-04-2005, 12:19 AM OK, this may be a stupid question but I haven't been able to find the answer through searches so far. I'm just about to order my Tein SS coilovers and have noticed they dont seem to come with an upper mount. Does this mean I will need to take the stock ones off my existing suspension and transfer them to the Teins? If so that means I would need a spring compressor and I'm not sure I could rent one anywhere in my town. Any help would be great, especially by someone who has installed Teins before. Thanks Volume_Civics 07-04-2005, 02:48 AM Well you should use a compressor when you take off you oem shocks, for obvious safety reasons. Well, you can just heat them which for some is easier. When I put tein springs in my 94 si hatch, I did not need to use a compressor. The springs were short enough, yet I still had to press down on the upper mount to get the locking nut on. oh btw what gen civ do you have? He's talking for coilovers, not lowering springs. You ONLY need to use a compressor when seperating the springs from the shocks, otherwise they come out as one single unit together. As far as the upper mount, you need to go to Tein's website (http://www.tein.com) and look up the manual for installing them for your car in the "Technical" information link. eckoman_pdx 07-08-2005, 04:39 PM As for spring compressors, autozome rents them for a refundable $40 deposit, and Sears sells some for $40 as well. Habor Freight tools also has some, do a search for their website. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
