setting ATDC to #1

I have a 94 mustang with the 3.8L engine and my MIL came on, the trouble code is P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor. I have the Chilton repair manual, I just wanted to know how would you go about setting the no. 1 Cylinder to 10 degrees ATDC.

Has anybody had this problem before? What tools did you need? Was it difficult?

Thanks.

Timing light on number one, point to timing marks on the engine, turn your crank angle sensor until it hit 10*. That engine does have spark plugs, right? My Skylines do not, that is why I am asking.

yeah it has spark plugs. Is it possible to just change the sensor and not the whole assembly?

On my GTRs I can, I do not know about your 3.8

If you just replace the sensor do you still have to set the #1 cylinder to 10 degrees ATDC? or do you just install the new one.

You have to set it, it would be nice to know where your timing is at. Do you have to, no, but if you do not know what to listen for, then you might want to invest in a timing light.
