Hey guys
I have a Camry DX from 91, and its been sitting in my driveway for the last 2 years. She wont start, we get spark, but it keeps backfiring through the intakeand I dont know where to start.

BTW: Its a 4 cylinder automatic.

Sounds like your valve timing is off. Check the indexing of the timing belt. It may be off by one or two teeth.

When the Valve Timing is at TDC, the rotor is at the 7 o'clock position, but in the Haynes book, it shows the 1st cylinder at the 5 o'clock position.

I can't tell much by that. I would only be able to tell by looking at the indexing marks on the pulleys.

Is that where the rotor is supposed to be?

Sorry, I don't have that engine here to compare it with. I don't know how much ignition timing will tell you about valve timing anyway.
