i have an '87 Golf GTI 1.8L 16V. I ordered a tune-up kit from oemeuro.com. They sent me Bougicord plug wires, Bosch distributor cap and rotor, and Bosch Platinum+4 spark plugs. Everything looks correct except the spark plugs. The plugs in the car currently are 5/8 inch type, but the ones they sent me are 13/16 inch type. A 13/16 inch socket wont even fit down inside my plug hole in the valve cover. The plug numbers match what the part store recommends, so why dont they fit? Is there a special thin walled socket I need or are these just the wrong plugs for this car. Please, if any body else has had this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like wrong plugs. Even to say vw doesnt use bosch plat +4 plugs from the factory.

The spark plug number they sent me was 4477, and i read on Bosch web site the correct number should be 4227. I got the feeling oemeuro has the wrong data in their system. I'll wait till they respond to my email to see if they will take them back or refund me for the cost of the plugs.

I have heard from many people that the best plugs to use are NGK.
