Hi!! I need help!!! I have a 97 ford escort. Something weird happened. Well i was driving along one day perfectly fine when suddenly the car died. The battery light went on momentarily, and then the car stopped. The car turns over. The lights come on, the radio, ac and all that jazz. I took it to a place and the guy said he had no idea what was wrong with it. latter i took it to a place called trickey's and they said it was a wire problem and didn't know how to fix it and that it would cost a lot of money. I asked a friend mechanic recently and he said it sounded like the module thingy. (sorry i have no idea about cars i'm a girl) anyways, he said it could be that. what do you think? please please please reply back and let me know what you think. is this common among escorts? Thanxs!!

you will need to find out if it has spark and fuel before you can really find out what is wrong. a quick guess is the timing belt broke if you have your llights and all that working. To check quickly if the timing belt broke open the oil cap and look inside you'll see whats called lifters. If you have someone turn the car over while you look inside those lifters should be moving up and down if they dont that tells you its the timing belt. let me know how you make out.

Sounds like what My Escort did, Car was running great then Poof no power. Mine did turn out to be the timing belt and fortunatly the water pump was ok. Did the same kind of check by taking off the oil cap then using a flashlight to look inside to see if the lifters were moving.
I am female as well but my Dad taught me about cars.
