When you drop in a new motor(sr20det blacktop) and tranny,does the odometer reset?

its a basic question but Im curious, I've heard one some cars it does and on some it does not.

You can reset it yourself, but it doesn't do it automatically.

it's kinda illegal... odometer fraud... :O just write down the miles on the car when you swap, or use the gauge cluster from the clip.. unless you're just getting an engine.
