I was born on Feb. The reason I dont have a licence yet is because I live in Cali and its a bitch to get one here. If your under 18 you have to first go through a drivers ed course. Then you get a permit at the DMV. During the time you have a permit you have to take 3 behind the wheel trainings. Even after you are done with that you have to wait 6 months before you can even try to get a licence. And when you do get a licence you cant drive anyone under 21 in your ca for another 6 months....

I live in cali to, not that hard to get license. You just have to want it when your 15 so you can get it when you turn 16. i think that makes sense.

I`m 19, Got my Primera when I was 18.

My first car was 1989 Nissan Bluebird 2.0EGi SKyline SLX, hatchback-coup, black metallic, red velour sports seats. Lowered 40mm, 17" Momo Sport`s.
The car was wrecked, when a complete asshole on a Honda CBR600 (motor cycle) slammed right into my left back door at approx. 150-160Km/t (about 105-110mph). He was killed instantly, and my car was wrecked. Damn I was mad! I really liked that car!!!

HHAHA, what a perfect thread :D

I bought my first G20 (94 auto) when i was 16, bought it December 13, 1998. Paid for it, my insurance, gas everything... work at a local computer store to help pay for everything. Sold it in October of 2000 for a 1995 G20 5-spd. Put a downpayment down on it, still paying it off now, still paying gas, insurance mods, etc... all by myself. Oh yeah that and college, that sucks  Still working at the computer store too, well not for long, but it's paying for the mods right now. I'm 19 now, will be 20 in February... :D Those are the only two cars I've owned, third car will still be a Nissan, probably a new SE-R Spec-V or a Silvia, if they ever bring one over, maybe the G35 coupe?

So, you are saying that you drive without insurance? Thats real smart.

I pay $1069 a year for insurance on my G20, and my Civic.

I have a question. 95% tinting in the back, and 75% tinting in the front. Dont most people get darker in the back, and lighter up front? I am just curious. Do you have any pics? I would like to see that. I have 12% all around, and I love it.

lwe had this discussion a while ago......here, the tinting goes by how little light is let in (ie, 95% means 5% light let in), so i have what is typical-darker in the back, lighter in the front....sorry, no goofy tint job here! :)

So, in Palm Springs Standards, I have 88%? Thats strange, when I lived in Cali, I ordered 12% tint on my Civic, and thats what I got. I never have heard of it being refered like that.

That sounds awfully expensive for a stock GT

I know you are from London somewhere which will probably push the premiums up somewhat, but assuming you have some no claims bonus and no convictions, that still sounds way too expensive!

I'm 21, and my insurance quote this year for my SRi is around £900. Fair enough the GT is a couple of insurance groups higher (12E vs 14), but I'm only 21, and have 3 points on my licence for speeding (whoops :)). That quote is with three years no claims.

Kevin (P11GT) is about 25, and even with all the mods on his GT is only paying about £1000 I think. Is my memory correct on this one Kev?

I suggest you get some quotes from different companies - try Admiral (http://www.admiral.uk.com) and Elephant (http://www.elephant.co.uk) for online quotes.

LOL, did you not know that your GT is a group 17 insurance. The same as a Impreza Turbo,V6 Laguna,ST200, GSI etc etc!!! Phone up an insurance company and ask what group it is. I think you know why its so expensive, its that paint LOL:D. I can get insured on my Sri for £1400 (im 19) with a full exhaust system/header, cold air intake (same HP as a GT, if not more).

i'm 19 with a '99 G20t. Got it dec 9th, 1998. beige, fully loaded, but that includes an auto :( it was technically the family car, but i drove it most of the time and as it turns out, i'm going to be driving it for the next couple years during college. but its not mine - so its not like i can do any upgrades to it, other than a subwoofer, because i dont get to keep it forever. and i'm tired of getting crap from people with V6s about my car having a 4-banger, which makes people assume its just a slow, rebadged sentra (and they would be half right ): what i really want is a '90-'96 300ZX TT. add a JWT ECU and POP and that thing will smoke 99% of the cars on the road AND outhandle them thanks to Super-HICAS 4-wheel steering. depending on the year and milage, that car in very good condition can be had for between $10-18k.

I guess it would be stupid to do stuff to a G20 if you only plan to keep it for the next 3 years at most. i dont think there would be a big market for it... especially with the G35 coming out in 2003.

Wow, even though I missed out on some of the fun here's what I've got in my 1993 G's history:

Bought it outright on Sept 6th (It was an R-title, so it was about 1/2 of private party value even though I bought it from a dealer)

I pay for my own insurance (I'm 19, clean record, behind the wheel traning, and good student discount) It's costing me $74/mo

And as for any mods... do new brake pads count?

I'm getting fake HID's and doing some other cosmetic things...

My insurance is up at $439 a month - no accidents, no nothing. With 3 cars in the household, I'm the primary driver, so the rates skyrocket. Maybe I should look into some other insurance rates ;).

There are no readily available kits specifically for the G20 yet... but you can adapt one from another car, such as teh 200sx SE-R, and with a couple new parts get it to work. As for the 02 model G20, you'd also have to adapt a JWT ECU from an earlier model, or get a standalone computer to monitor the fuel and stuff maps. there is a lot of info on se-r.net and even some in earlier threads on this forum, i think i've seen a couple in the engine section. Hope this helps

I bought my first G at age 17 1998, for my senior project I got away with doing a JWT POP, and a H.S. header install at a local shop. She was a beatiful black 91 P10 dropped on chrome TSW Imola's. About a year later on the night before my 18'th birthday she was totaled(struck right in-between two driver side doors by another car at about 45 mph). All 4 people in the car survived without a scratch.

To my amazement that damn car's alignment was still perfect. I could let the steering wheel go while driving down the highway and stay in my lane.

Mad props to Nissan for building one solid muther&^*$# car!

I am still just barely 18, i have had a g20 since i turned 15 and half or so, i got my new 2002 g20 sport black with black leather and suede interior. I also put $3000 in custom subs in the back built into the trunk along with ssr 17" wheels covered with 235 size tires. Window tint, white lights, and just finished the rewire for fog lights to run with parking lights. I did front strut brace and rear sway bar. I have my own apartment and a really fu*k expensive gf. So i am working on saving for exhuast, custom trubo kit, nitrous, carbon hood, racing seats, stillen front bumber, and if i make shit loads this year i want the first all wheel drive g20.

Alrighty, time for my love story--------------
I was sad when my mom traded in the Buick LeSabre for a brand spanking new 1996 Infiniti G20 in pearl white with tan leather--and an automatic...:( ------oh well, anyway I was sad all the way back home from Houston to Lufkin---bout 2 hr drive, yet, hmm...hour and a half in the G...and by the time i awoke from the much comfyer buckets--I was in love. I was 11 and wanted a Viper or something--fast forward--still a car freak since birth, I fell into the import scene at 14, realizing the potential of the SR20DE--an engine code i had just learned of(back then, at least)...I wanted an RX7 twin turbo, but without the money for it, I started to lean towards the G more and more. At 14 and a half, i opened a savings account w/ about 50 bucks in it. By 15--The car is mine, I realized. Thru several lawns mowed, lots of things for family, helping out at the local Nissan place, whoring around for cash, etc... I had enough for wheels and tires, an exhaust, and, watch out!--spark plugs...@ 15 i started working at Randalls bagging grocery, and stacking boxes, etc...I realized the joys of spending $$$ on a car you dont legally own--no gas, insurance, etc. -- at 16 I had a large Pearl White gift with a huge red ribbon that was aged about 5 years...and a set of Paradas and this year--2002 that is--lets just say I have a lot planned for my baby G!

Same here. I am 17 and I got a 1992 Nissan Primera TE. They are the most popular family car over here in New Zealand. You can see about 20 Primera's in 1 minute - lol.

I am 20 and have a 2000 G20, that I got when I was 18. But I also have a 03 GMC 2500HD and an 82 Corvette in the garage. But G20's are definately young people cars, and in my opinion its better than putting another freaking honda on the street.
