1st to 2nd hard shift in my Tranny, any experts?

Hello, I have a 85 Chevy Silverado C10 4x4. The Transmission Shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and at high RPM's, sometimes it is not so bad if I drive slow. Any ideas why this is or how it can be fixed? Thank you, Rev AC
