Stupid MAF sensor!

I just replaced my MAF sensor because the OBDII said that was the problem. It was stalling at idle and running real rough. The problem now is that it won't run at all!
After I replaced the sensor, I started the engin and it ran okay for a few minutes. I put it in gear to drive it back into the garage, and it stalled. Now it wont even run. It will start, but sputters, pops, and stalls.
Any ideas?
I also noticed a hose (to what I have NO CLUE) that has melted a little. Might that be the problem?
I can explain more if anyone has any ideas.

First, it is always helpfull for experts out there to help you faster if you give all the specifications of the vehicle. Make ,year, model and engine size, mileage and so on. From the little info you gave I would recommend you replace the melted hose, which seems like an important vacuum hose and then if the problem still occures, run the test. Depending on the year could mean a lot, newer cars have a lot of sensors.

I'm confused. Is there actually a sensor called the MAF sensor? I know there's a MAP sensor :confused:

Mass Air Flow sensor .... sits inside the air intake.

Give the MAF wire harness a tug to make sure it's plugged in all the way. With the way the air box is set up it's real easy to not "snap" the plug in all the way. Make sure the wire rubber gromet is in place. Check for vac leaks in all the hoses and tubing.
Can you get us a pic of this melted hose?

May be wrong but I think MAP and MAF are the same thing. If you have a vacuum leak caused by the melted hose then this could cause the false code. But then again, it's doing it's job-telling you that the vacuum is out of the proper parameters.
