How can you tell if you have Antilock Brakes (ABS)? Some people say to take it down the road and slam on the brakes...if they pump it is ABS...but there has to be a way to determine by looking. Anyone know?

yes, look in the engine compartment, follow your brake lines out of the master cylander, if they go into a block that is connected to the wire harness, thats ABS, if they go straight to your brakes. no ABS.

1. Turn the ignition to the "on" position without starting the car and see if an "abs" indicator lights up on the dash display.

-or-

2. Pull off your front tire and see if there is an electronic sensor mounted to the inside of the wheel hub. Then do the same with a rear tire. Some cars have ABS only in front, some in front and rear. If you look both places, you'll know.

-or-

3. Take it up to a whopping 10 mph or so on gravel and slam the brakes.
