Odd Problem After Taking My Trooper offroad..eternalrage 06-22-2005, 09:03 PM okay guys, here is the situation, (1993 Trooper Special Edition) i took my trooper off road, thru tons of mud and water and had a blast, it was soo caked in mud so i decided to take it to the car wash to clean it off, when i got back on the pavement, i took it out of 4 wheel low, and into 2WD Mode, and drove about 100 feet to the car wash, as i was pulling into the wash bay, the following lights blinked on my dash: - O2 Light - Fuel Light - Parking Brake light - Generator (alternator) Light i thought nothing of it because this happened once before when the battery terminal was loose, so i shut the trooper off, washed it all down, and tightened up the battery terminals, but when i went to leave, the LIGHTS WERE STILL ON? The alternator is fine, the trooper has a large stereo in it and i drove for about a half hour home, with the stereo going, and have had no battery / charging problems, the fuel tank is Full, i just filled it yesterday, as for the parking brake, it is not engaged, so i dont know why that light is on, and the same goes for the o2, i dont know what is causing these lights to stay on. i checked undeneath the trooper to see if i snagged some wires but cant see anything, and now i noticed that the heater / ac fan wont come on, i checked all the relays and nothing is blown? this is an odd electrical glitch? any help? suggestions? recomendations on where to take it to get this fixed? or how to do it myself? please let me know, i would really like to get this electrical problem solved, as i love this trooper! you can contact me at info@renewedimport.com Thanks!! amigo-2k 06-23-2005, 12:31 AM sound like a bad alt. Isuzu alts don't like mud. Take your truck to a place like autozone and have them do a load test on the alt while the truck is running. eternalrage 06-23-2005, 12:49 AM the alternator is fine, i have been driving it for the last few days with no problems, stereo going and all, it is charging perfect 89trooper 07-29-2005, 12:19 AM disconnect the battery for a few mins and see if that works. 89trooper 07-29-2005, 12:19 AM disconnect the battery for a few mins and see if that works. VMI07 11-03-2005, 05:58 PM Did this get resolved? I have the same exact problem in my 98 trooper but only with the brake and battery lights. Heater blower and AC does not work. Just replaced the alternator. problem showed up when the alternator was installed. Battery terminals are clean. Had the battery and charging system checked at two different places. All looks good (Battery & Alternator) Any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated. VMI07 Canucklehead 11-03-2005, 06:25 PM Did this get resolved? Is it true that the three smaller wire on the back of the alternator power individual devices. One being the blower and A/C. I have checked the fuse box and ther is no power at the fuse. Another post indicated such. I thought I would start there. Since the parts store believes the alternator is good, (All battery and alternator tests good) I need another reason for the return before things get ruff. VMI07 PS I did check the dealer again for the price $ of a new Alternator(rebuilt not available) he is down from the md $600's to $585. Big deal! Couldn't tell you whether that is true or not. I can however tell you that I went through three remanufactured units before I finally got one from the dealer (not for $600 though). My problem was that the replacements I got didn't like it when the ECM told them to stop charging when load was placed on the engine. The first one smoked a diode after a week, the second one lasted about 10 days and the third about 7 hours. Put the one got from Isuzu in and haven't had a problem since. I would be willing to bet that the unit you got from the parts store has the wrong regulator. It may have the same plug but one of the terminals isn't wired up the right way. It may test fine at the store (all those guys do is throw it on the test bench and check the field and armature currents and voltage - they don't know whether or not it is really working right) but when you throw it in your Trooper it's not energizing everything it should. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
