'98 Cavalier Z24 Wiring Diagrammikecmh 06-19-2005, 12:17 PM Can anyone help me locate or provide me a wiring diagram for: 1.) I'm to locate the horn wire at the steering column. I see two switches. One switch with 4 wires connected to the turn signal where the lights turn on; (blue, black, brown & gray) and then a little back behind that, there's another bigger switch with 6 wires (black with a white stripe (I think), pink, dark blue, red(?), black, brown). I'm trying to install an alarm and upon being advised to locate my vehicle's horn wire at the steering column, it says to connect to the "black" wire....not sure which one. 2.) Then there is the door input. I've located the vehicle's dome light/door pin switch wires located in the passenger side lower kick panel and see two wires; (black and light blue). It says to connect the wire from the alarm to the negative door input wire. I ASSUME it is the black wire but I'm finding this not to be true. Now, I am confused cause it says: This wire will register ground when the door is opened and the interior light is on. This wire will register positive voltage when the door is closed and the interior light is off. If there is more than one door input wire, it will be necessary to isolate the wires with a 1 AMP diode (stripe facing the vehicle wire). Connect the GREEN wire to the vehicles negative door input wire. I know this is the correct wore from the alarm cause this is for GM, so it says. It has a purple wire from the alarm but says it's for Ford. 3.) For the parking lights, I assume I could just run this wire to one of the parking lights in either the front or to the rear light, right? I figure it would be easier to send the wire to the front parking light and hope it should trigger all the parking lights when armed/disarmed? 4.) Now, I've ran my constant power wire to the accessory fuse in the fuse box. If this is ok, let me know. Otherwise, where should I send this wire? I'm not very knowledgeable in electrical but love to challenge myself in doing so....so, when it comes to splicing anything into other wires, I'd rather have a wiring diagram of my car. Cause I am more detailed that way. But, if anyone can walk me thru, I'd appreciate it. 5.) I have a good metal to metal ground to the frame and the red power wire is fused and ready to be connected to the positive battery cable. If anyone can let me know if I am on the right track or provide me any suggestions or even a wiring diagram, I'd greatly appreciate it. Will be posting some pics after the 4th of July once my new springs & 18's are put on. ponchonutty 06-19-2005, 02:17 PM Just test the wires. You seem to be on the right track. Don't take any of the info you have as a bible. You should always test the wire's function via voltmeter. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
