CrossRamZ28 06-19-2005, 12:15 PM How did you go about BMFing the Camaro script? Did you cut out a rectangular piece of BMF, burnish it to the car, paint over it, and then wipe the paint off of the elevated script? Looking great, by the way. Dean23 06-19-2005, 12:18 PM wow great looking kit....Gotta love american muscle. I built the kit many years ago...didnt look antwhere as good as yours. Keep the pics coming. JTRACING 06-19-2005, 12:20 PM How did you go about BMFing the Camaro script? Did you cut out a rectangular piece of BMF, burnish it to the car, paint over it, and then wipe the paint off of the elevated script? Looking great, by the way. yes sir, that exactly how, i trim the BMF as close as posible to the script, same for the marker lights. i use a q-tip and some WD-40 to clean off the paint. then i clear the car a few times. a tip i learned from my buddy Peter (http://www.nascar-models.de/) CrossRamZ28 06-19-2005, 12:23 PM yes sir, that exactly how, i trim the BMF as close as posible to the script, same for the marker lights. i use a q-tip and some WD-40 to clean off the paint. then i clear the car a few times. Great idea. I'd have never thought of that! My next model kit is a Revell '69 Z28 CrossRam. I figure I'll give this method a shot and see how it comes out. Anyways, good luck with your build. It sure looks excellent so far! Layla's Keeper 06-19-2005, 12:41 PM Looking good so far, but I have to know, will you be changing the wheels to a more appropriate size of Torq-Thrust (period would be natural finish 15") or a factory wheel like a dog dish or rally? pre98zetec 06-19-2005, 12:43 PM I love the color! BlownSS454 06-19-2005, 01:53 PM You just so happen to be building one of my FAVORITE muscle cars of all time. And after seeing those pictures, you have done this car justice! Nice job, keep it up!!! mickbench 06-19-2005, 02:54 PM yes sir, that exactly how, i trim the BMF as close as posible to the script, same for the marker lights. i use a q-tip and some WD-40 to clean off the paint. then i clear the car a few times. a tip i learned from my buddy Peter (http://www.nascar-models.de/) Read about this idea on another modelling site.. Great idea, and you have done a good job with it.. Being from the UK, don't get to see many US cars, even less of the US muscle cars.. Fuel prices scare us off importing them.. :LOL Honoturtle 06-19-2005, 03:19 PM Looking good so far, but I have to know, will you be changing the wheels to a more appropriate size of Torq-Thrust (period would be natural finish 15") or a factory wheel like a dog dish or rally? I have to agree. The spokes on this kit just looks to thin. Great progress so far! stump 06-20-2005, 12:51 AM **WOW** ....That looks super James.. Great tip on the scripts too, save on photo-etch......LOL..... I'll be following this closely, being a muscle car freak that I am.... cheers stump :aus: JTRACING 06-20-2005, 06:56 AM thanks guys, I Polished the paint last night during the basketball game . hopefully you can see the blue now lol. http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6230356239363462.jpg http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3533633038313264.jpg for wheels i was gonna use the ones that come with it. i think they look cool, plus the chrome plating is awesome. Orion37170 06-20-2005, 11:13 AM great work on paint and polish! hope you didn't miss any goal anyway;) americanmuscleman 06-20-2005, 11:56 AM i love that color! in case u wanted to, when i built this kit i sanded the back of the grill down until all the holes were out, then u could see through the grill. white97ex 06-20-2005, 01:01 PM that paint is awesome...as always. HotRodDreamer 06-20-2005, 08:27 PM Nice, i just started the same kit the other night, mine's black though but its definately not as smooth as that, great job! Alfa 147 06-20-2005, 08:51 PM Now the real color shows off, looking great ;) eph2 06-20-2005, 09:20 PM Nice paint man!! I love this color!!! JTRACING 06-21-2005, 08:18 AM thanks guys, my favourite color now too, i have 3 cars painted with it so far lol i got the engine block painted, and i decided to add some valve cover gaskets to. http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3835393230363464.jpg white97ex 06-21-2005, 11:05 AM lookin good james. the chrome in that kit looks to be excellent tonioseven 06-21-2005, 11:06 AM This is awesome already!:) JTRACING 06-22-2005, 05:10 PM sportracer02 06-23-2005, 01:02 AM Hi James, are the blue gaskets made of sheet? BTW, nice progress !!! CrossRamZ28 06-23-2005, 01:28 AM Looks great. My Z28 is headed off to the Dot3 bath. :crying: Wheelin75r 06-23-2005, 02:55 AM Awesome! DukeMan 06-23-2005, 07:29 AM Nice progress James, that paint (and the shine;)) is so beautiful. I have no problem understanding why you painted three models in that color... One thing though, I think that the gaskets looks waaay to thick, IMO some 0.3 mm styrene would have looked better. Keep it up! JTRACING 06-23-2005, 09:21 AM Hi James, are the blue gaskets made of sheet? BTW, nice progress !!! Hi, Yes sheet styrene 0.5, well the engine is complete, i will add the rest of the wires once its in the car... http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3362396336626236.jpg and also started on the inteiror now... http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3066353239383738.jpg and got most of the trim on, just need to BMF around the wheel openings, and tail lights. i ran out of BMF though so i'll finish it later... http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6434346363613230.jpg http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6462356337373137.jpg sjelic 06-23-2005, 09:25 AM Gorgeus, perfect colour, perfect decals, just perfect allover ;) Honoturtle 06-23-2005, 01:11 PM The spark plug boots look great! How did you do them? Engine is one of the best I've seen.. but I think your carburator is backwards. 675datsun 06-23-2005, 01:35 PM Killer paint! Great engine detail. How did you make the throttle return spring? It's tiny! Will you be running the fuel line from filter back to the tank? JTRACING 06-23-2005, 01:58 PM thanks guys!, The spark plug boots look great! How did you do them? Engine is one of the best I've seen.. but I think your carburator is backwards. the carb is on correct, the secondarys are in the back, the 2 main barrels are in the front. the boots are just grey wire from an old computer mouse, i took the inside wire out, and put my blue plug wire in them. its the kit distributor.. Killer paint! Great engine detail. How did you make the throttle return spring? It's tiny! Will you be running the fuel line from filter back to the tank? the spring is the wire i took out of the grey plug boots... i dont think so about the line. its something you would never see anyway. willimo 06-23-2005, 02:27 PM Top work, as always! Very wonderful car. JTRACING 06-23-2005, 07:42 PM after some carefull detail painting, i think the gauges look cool! http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3236373965363536.jpg 76ta 06-23-2005, 07:43 PM wow man thats incredible Alfa 147 06-23-2005, 07:47 PM The engine look's just great, the spark plug wires are perfect, and the paint... i love it :sunglasse can't wait to see it finished ;) Honoturtle 06-23-2005, 08:47 PM the carb is on correct, the secondarys are in the back, the 2 main barrels are in the front. Can't really let this one go... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/35516engine396.jpg 396 Chevy Sorry for nit picking, I just can't agree. emperorsupra 06-23-2005, 09:00 PM wow i was thinking of buying that car when i went to longs drugs to pick up some medicine now that i see how good it can look ill buy it, dam nice paint job. Are you going to use the out of the box rims or aftermarket JTRACING 06-24-2005, 12:33 AM Can't really let this one go... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/35516engine396.jpg 396 Chevy Sorry for nit picking, I just can't agree. this it the way the carb goes on, notice the throttle linkage is molded on the correct left hand side, so i dont know what you are talking about?... if the throttle linkage was molded to the other side of the carb then you would be correct. you can see better here in my earlier progress picture.. http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6337303836303164.jpg Honoturtle 06-24-2005, 02:42 AM I guess you're right about the throttle linkage. The carb is a Perry Resin bit right? The carb looks to have started off as your stock kit parts, I bet the part he made for the top portion was just glued on backwards on the master. Either way, you're putting an aircleaner on it right? Anyways enough with that, fantastic engine. I didn't notice till now the PE bit for the radiator hose, nice touch! :sunglasse JTRACING 06-24-2005, 10:48 AM i wanted to see how the engine looks in the car so i stuck it in!. http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3065326233363137.jpg white97ex 06-24-2005, 10:51 AM im speechless JTRACING 06-26-2005, 08:59 AM got some more done, painted the chassis, and started to add some detail on it... i like the wheels in the kit also, they look more modern... http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_3366303363346431.jpg http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6466376639363432.jpg http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/01/1904101/1024_6465326662373639.jpg white97ex 06-26-2005, 10:22 AM that exhaust detail is superb. just when we think it can't get any better.....BAM Orion37170 06-26-2005, 11:33 AM great build of this beautiful car so far!
