Here's my latest thing, the AMG transkit for the '99 Mercedes S 600 to the mercedes S 55 AMG.

All parts of the bodywork have been modified and can be taken off, so I m thinking of making a cast, cause hey, Ales made me do it! :loser:

Where did you get this Transkit?? Looks very nice! I still have 2 of those Benz-kits, one of the worst revell ever made  the fitting is awful! Good luck on it! :loser:

Edit: Forget my silly question! Took some time to understand, you made it. :banghead:

No Baja, it's all scratchbuilt, according to references, it only needs 1% more work, cleaning the lines of the bumpers for instance.

It was a really fun thing to do tho, but as I m quite a slow builder this thing has been in progress -let me think- for about , erm, 5 months or something.

thanks for the comments!

Lookin' good, no, excellent knowing that it's scratchbuilt. I'm anxious to see the wheels you choose.

Very nice!
Are you going to make pre -03 model or the new facelifted version?

If just some manufacturer would make the W211 E55 AMG.... :smokin:

bigfrit
06-16-2005, 06:12 AM
Thanks, guys.

Eero; the model S55 it's representing is the pre-03 model, as you stated. this is because of the fact that the after 03 model has got clear lights, which aren't included in the kit, the kit's front lights are slightly engraved from the inside, thus making it impossible to make a perfect replica of that past 03 model.

I chose for the 02 model, because it will be as close true to life as my skills go, and I must add in all fake honesty that I m pretty proud of how it turned out, it looks like the real deal to me.
Here is a pic for comparison's sake.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/bigfrit/s55.jpg

I just thought it would fit perfectly in the line of AMG 600's we ve seen in the past years, and hey, to make the lines of the stock 600 look a bit more appealing too!

Sweet. Count me in for one of the transkits please! Are you going to also offer the wheels, which are essentially Fujimi sourced w/the rear wheel rims widened?

Hurry up w/the conversion, this coming Monday, June 20 - the official undisguised pics of the next-generation S-Class are unveiled by Daimler-Chrysler  . From what I've seen, it's kind of fugly...lots of RX-8 fender influence.

Eero Scherman
06-16-2005, 08:32 AM
One more question. :)

Is this model going to be a curbside model?
Normally the pre-facelift S55's have a V8 without supercharger but the pre-facelift 600 has a non-turbo V12.

But if somebody would be able to make those clear headlights and the other bits that changed in the facelift, then it would be possible to convert this S600 to a S65.. :naughty:

bigfrit
06-16-2005, 08:36 AM
well, yes mister scherman!

because it is just based on the S600 from revell, it won't feature an engine, as the basekit doesn't have one either

as for the clear headlights, well I don't think it's doable right, as the shape is quite complex of the clear headlights.

And Bob, yeah man, I ll try to hurry it, there s one estonian always pulling my leg for me to finish and cast it... I just want that guy to stop harassing me

cleaning out the headlight isn't much of a problem. You can sand the lines with a 800 grit, then wet sand with 2000 grit, then use rubbing compound, and then dip it in Future clear. That's what I did with my Tamiya Supra lights.

Wow. Nice Idea and good job.
This Revell's S600 is realy great model.
It isn't detailed, it is very simple model but looks very effective.
Because it's Mercedes ;-))

Did anyone try to bulid "pullman" version of W220 S-class ??

What about AMG wheels ???
Do you have any idea how to make AMG wheels ?

Will S-class be silver ? Think about cut sunroof and place there transparent sunroof (for example painted Tamiya's smoke)

I have got two of this S600 (from Italeri, but I think this is the same model in different boxes). I also have got two of 600SEL (W140) from Tamiya ;-)) .

Thanks for the interest.

I m a bit busy right now with other stuff, but the complete transkit will be available in september for sure.

I will make sure I put it in a thread somewhere for all interested people to see.

The fact that it's taking so long is that I want to get the castings spot on, but I ran out of silicone. It's being ordered soon.

I did some more fine-tuning.

It's now at the phase you can see it. It might need one little more coat of primer .

As for the rest, I just bought me a new kit, cut off the stock bumpers and added the ones I made to test it.

As you can see, with some rims and those bumpers, the difference is quite big.

And casting, i haven't really found a way to make it, as I m all out of sillycone and resin and stuff...

I ll post it when it's 100 % done, with primer over it in the completed thread.

Enjoy the pics, and sorry that I can't take pictures that well to show all little details.

As i already said to you: GREAT! :grinyes:

Rear bumper should get some minor mods though.:icon16:

If you still need help with casting, just tell me! I´ve got enough silicone for making some molds again. :smokin:

bigfrit
06-19-2006, 07:22 AM
hmm ; about the rear bumper,
the picture you show is for the after '99 S55, you ll see it's also a different front bumper, clear front lights and minor adjustements.

The reason of the clear frontlights is why I chose to do the '99 version. And the rear bumper has the underpart protruding a bit more.

Believe me, it was swearing mayhem here when I ran through my references a couple of times and was unable to pinpoint the differences with those two quite similar bumperkits!

that, and my lazyness, were two reasons why I just wasn't motivated in finishing it.

Oli

PS... I left the rear full, so you can make your own holes for double normal exhaust, double huge-ass exhaust and quadruple fartcans !

I know I know! I hit myself in the head everytime I have a comment on this thread...

sorry to keep you guys waiting soooo long. It's long finished, it's ready for casting.

The reason why I waited for such a long time, is to have my second tkit ready, so i could have the two cast at the same time. And that time, my friends, has nearly arrived.

Eitherway, when it's ready for 'purchase' or 'trade', i ll PM every replier to this tread personally, so you know.

And just to tell you, it's a hobby for me, so i prefer not to make a profit on it.

More on this in a few weeks, it's not like there's a hurry.

Thank you so much for your interest and I hope I won't let you down.

Dear Sir,

I dont know how I could've missed this thread all this time, but I have this S55 1:1 and always wanted a model version of it to build, but being as bad an artist as I am, i have never been able to do anything of this sort.

The fact that you actually made it has made my entire year, and whenever you are ready, please send me an email and i would love to purchase one from you.

As for the profits, thats very nice of you to treat this as a hobby, but profits should be made where profits are due, and in this case my friend, profit is due as your job is excellent! thanks! (by the way, fellow members please dont kill me as i suggested him make money on the product)
