Hey guys im new here at AF anyways i was wondering... How much u think it would cost for a bodyshop to set up 2 rear widebody fenders and the s15 front conversion on a 90' 240sx.. already know how much to get da sr20 for and already have money saved up for it.. and also.. isnt the s15 conversion off road only? if so how can i support the bumper so that it can be legal on the street? thanks.

Even if the bumper is supported, it's still illegal because it's a RHD headlight patern. For the price, depends on many factors, if you want it painted, if so, the whole car, or color matching, how good of a paint job, plus you'll need new rims and rims to fit rear wide fenders aren't cheap, so the best thing to do is go ask a body shop and go through all your options.

240SXSlideStar
06-14-2005, 06:07 PM
Yeah, they won't notice, but if you go in for a safety inspection, I dunno, maybe they can rearange the lights...or impound your car...

06-14-2005, 07:38 PM
im still against the s15 front end on a s13 but hey its your car.are you getting the actual s15 front end or the conversion kit specially made for the s13?

06-14-2005, 07:41 PM
yea its ok looking on a s14 but i still dont like it and i hate it on a s13

06-14-2005, 07:42 PM
well i know that i was just making a gap as a comparison

06-14-2005, 07:43 PM
Well would you really want to put a new engine on a 200,000+ chassis without doing major repairs or upgrades to the chassis and suspension? With the RB included, your talking about a $10,000+ project. Good look with that one.
240SXSlideStar
06-14-2005, 07:45 PM
Yeah, when I get my S13, the first thing I'm doing is stripping it down and sending it to a body shop so they can fix all the rust and fix any other chassis weaknesses.

rb30....... ............. ...................in a galaxy far far away. sorry saw that movie, dont waste your money.
as far as teh body shop dealy goes. Be prepared to spend a boatload of money. No joke a small boatload would do it. You wouldnt absolutely have to get new rims right away.....but it will look funny as hell without a wider tire in the back. Dont worry about the headlights thing, well i guess it depends on where you live. All they do here is make sure there not blown out. No different from s13 conversion.
Pricing:
Take off current front, add a whole front end and prep to line it all up, put on various brackets needed, rear wide fenders, sand, prime, paint, bondo, clear, tape, paper, hardener, labor.....hmmmm buy a ferrari??? lol jp. It will be alot man thats all i have to say, every shop will give you a different quote. But it will be high dollar. Exactly how much cash you got?? If you have all that and money for an sr20 well then god damn you!!! bank theif. I would say put in your sr first, then you'll go power hungry and forget about all the body work you just said, and you'll start modding the engine. ITs like pringles, once you pop you cant stop.
not to mention a shop is going to have your car for like a month or two....possibly more.

i dont think the RHD/LHD headlight issue is a real big deal.. at least on BMW's theres just a plate that pushes the left one up but you have to switch it to the right side so your left side isnt pointing up into oncoming traffic. it shoudl be something simple like that

If your car runs fine, do the suspension first!! I was about to put $4,000 into the rims, tires, and suspension, and then my engine got funky on me, and I had to go for the SR swap instead. Also, when you get an engine, there is a lot of costs involveed that you don't think about, (TRUST ME) so plan to spend way more than you think! You don't want to run out of money, and have an engine that you can't put in because you still need a part or two!!

damn.. lolz about the headlights.. i live in new york in da city.. u think dey gon care? lolz as for the sr20 and the rb25 im not even sure anymore.. because first of all emissions is an issue u know? thinkin maybe KA-T? havnt really made up my mind yet.. well so far i got 25k saved up.. and ive always loved the 240sx n im beginniowng to doubt if 25k is even enough to hook it up nice lolz

Cool Japanese Explanation (http://meggala.com/rb24.html)
The Rb2.4 is a stroked version of the rb20 there are actually 3 different versions
maybe even more. They are the 2.4 which is using the rb26 crank and rods and 80 or 82 mm pistons.
There is also the rb2.3 which is using rb25 crank and pistons. and there is the rb2.2 which is
using stock rods but with the bored out pistons.
In Japan these engine put out 600 ps + quite often and you can use very large turbos like
the trust T88 because it now has the torque. also the red line can be move to
8500 at least when using the rb26 crank and rod.
:ylsuper: :D thats the shit right there. NISSAN>*

Convert the RB20 to solid lifter and you can do 9500 pretty easily with some forged 4AGZE pistons. The problem is the long crankshaft and the resulting harmonic vibrations. That is why the GTR is known for crapping out oil pumps.
Anyone with a T88 better be making 900+whp or they need a smaller turbo. In fact that lag monster will never be on any car I own. I like useable power, not a dyno queen.

the "cool japanese explanation" on that piece of cardboard was nothing special. It just had the figures mentioned in the previous paragraph labelled onto the components it dealt with.
hahaha... this is a confusing thread.
