Holden Ute or 1 Tonner-progblubaja 06-14-2005, 05:53 PM Hey, Yeah yea...I'm gonna need a little help from you Aussie mates. Ya see, the wonderfull folks at Holden Australia were kind enough to send me 2 full color brochure books(all the way to me in the US!!), one of the Ute/1 Tonner, and one of the Monaro! :grinyes: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute6.bmp So, I got myself another GTO kit, black one, to keep as a GTO. The red one is gonna be my Holden. I'm not sure if I can make the Ute. It would need some extensive body work on the arse section.(new tailights, wider at the rearmost, new rear bumper-I'm still a noob at bodywork) I would also need 5 lug steel wheels. I have a few 4 lug steelies, so I just need a few tips to fix them, or are there any 5 lug steelies out there in resin? http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute5.bmp http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute4.bmp The 1 Tonner would be easier, and cooler to me. I like the look of utility stuff, the Ute is a beaut' tho..Enough of my talk already..pics.... http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute3.bmp http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute.bmp http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute2.bmp Thanks, Frank X. Merkava 06-14-2005, 07:01 PM Nice! I guess this is the modern version of the ElCamino, huh? Pretty ambitious conversion, but you seem to be right on track. Fusionrr 06-14-2005, 07:04 PM Sweet. I can see the ute shape already! Do you know what model it will be? VZ or VU? The VY/Z has straight edged front lights while the VU is the same as the 2003 pontiac model your starting with. SidewayzS15 06-14-2005, 07:06 PM Wow i like this car a lot, kinda of like an earlier el camino, and i love el caminos :D Keep up the good work Frank! Purpura Delujo 06-15-2005, 06:09 AM Have you tried some Australin resin websites for a VU body or even tray? It'd be worth a shot to try looking first, or in a while companies might release the one tonners and sedans to put over the GTO interior & chassis. Hustle_187 06-15-2005, 09:41 AM the hsv maloo is nice > http://img131.echo.cx/img131/4404/maloor810246kw.jpg Lambophilia 06-15-2005, 02:49 PM Wow! It's like a Holden fest in the forum. This by far is the most interesting iteration. Now the sedan! Anyone?! LoL... Good luck Frank. There shouldn't be any difficulty getting reference pics if you need any Frank X? Fusionrr 06-18-2005, 04:54 AM Hows your progress going, Frank X? have you decided on a tray or "body" ute yet? blubaja 06-18-2005, 11:43 AM Hey, Sorry I haven't posted anything in a bit. I will make the 1 Tonner version. But if that turns out well, I will make the Ute also. It will have the older fascia. I am hoping Stump, Fusionrr, and I can share parts when they and I are finished? Thanks for the support guys. I'll work on this one today and post up. Frank X. blubaja 06-18-2005, 03:17 PM Ok. Not that much progress. I think I want this to be the 4wd version. Fender flraes to me modded..stolen from explorer kit. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute7.bmp http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute9.bmp http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/blubaja03/ute8.bmp Frank X. stump 06-18-2005, 07:58 PM Hey Frank, I'm liking this very much.... The idea of 4 x 4 sounds good too, I'll see if I can find you some info and pics to help along.... There has been a ute (2001 model, I think..) available from a guy down here, but they're rare as rockin horse sh.. !!! The guy was very part-time and casual about them, I dont think he made many...Though I have a mate that got one......Very thick casting...... :uhoh: :shakehead Parts sharing/swapping should not be any worries Frank... Keep her going Mate, lookin good. cheers stump :aus: stump 06-18-2005, 08:15 PM Here Frank, try these... Holden (http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/) Concept cars (http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/conceptcarspecs?modelid=20003) The 4 x 4 is due for release next year, by the looks of it.... Not many pics unfortunatly..... cheers stump :aus: blubaja 06-19-2005, 01:16 AM http://www.americancarfans.com/news/2050203.002/2050203.002.1L.jpg I was thinking this. but with the older grille. Is that -willimo-prototypically- correct? I love the 4dr version! Reminds me so much of Baja...which makes me think...Why Subaru never introduced it down there to market it. Bah...O well... Thanks, Frank X. vx_supercharged 06-19-2005, 08:48 AM You champion - go the aussie cars Fusionrr 06-19-2005, 09:05 AM Looking cool! share/swap , no problems.. I might use a rear or a pickup frame I have lying around. Or scratchbuild one. mbwoods 09-14-2005, 09:21 PM frank, i assume your using an AMT kit or similar to make the conversion? what did it start of as? where did u get the model in your signature pic, the one between your fingers? is it a kit or diecast? u have given me an idea, i'll could get any estate/station wagon kit and convert it into a pick-up by removing half to three quarters of the roof, filling the lines for the rear door, use the rear window and frame and move it inwards to creat new window behind the driver, and a piece of sheet plastic for the rear cover to hide the ugliness in the back michael willimo 09-14-2005, 10:24 PM where did u get the model in your signature pic, the one between your fingers? is it a kit or diecast? :lol2: blubaja 09-15-2005, 05:26 AM frank, i assume your using an AMT kit or similar to make the conversion? what did it start of as? where did u get the model in your signature pic, the one between your fingers? is it a kit or diecast? u have given me an idea, i'll could get any estate/station wagon kit and convert it into a pick-up by removing half to three quarters of the roof, filling the lines for the rear door, use the rear window and frame and move it inwards to creat new window behind the driver, and a piece of sheet plastic for the rear cover to hide the ugliness in the back michael 1. I used the Polar Lights '03 Pontiac. GTO kit. 2. Are you serious dude? I'd have to go with it's a mutimedia built up with a metal formed body. hehe..that's my 1:1. I took a pic of it from this fire watch tower about 150 ft up. http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/1437/uphigh7fk.jpg 3. Yes!!! Please o please make my BAJA!! Purpura Delujo 09-15-2005, 07:51 AM The 4wd version comes in Crewman form which is the dual cab you like, nothing like a 4WD LS1 with no weight in the back...if you know what I mean ;) Those interceptors look great, best wheel Holden have ever come up with IMO.. mbwoods 09-15-2005, 11:24 AM Are you serious dude?
