'95 sunfire dies. ECU? fuel pump?cack 06-12-2005, 09:29 PM sorry i know crap about american cars, i'm asking for my brother. it's a 2.2 auto. for the past month, he saw the rpms go crazy for no reason at low speeds, if he'd hit the throttle good, it would stop. his car has been randomly dying for the last week or so. at first it would only die at low speeds, but now it's even dying on the highway. he got it to a mechanic and they said it was a dirty valve. don't quite think so. it was ok for a few days but then the dying game started over again this week-end. apparently the ECU is exposed to nature on this model, that may not help. is there a transfer pump and a fuel pump on these cars? any ideas on what it may be? common problem? anywhere you guys know where i could find him used parts for cheap online? either a ECU or a fuel pump, if that's the problem. thanks for any help. robzone0911 06-13-2005, 07:44 PM You could have a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump (which is an in tank model), or dirty injectors. You can look for many parts you might need on ebay, and autozone.com has pretty competitive prices on new parts. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
