97 accord coupe Head Unit InstallClinko21 06-10-2005, 09:05 PM I have a friend that I am putting player in for. She has a 97 accord coupe ex(?). I am no noob to car audio hacing installed a system in my 01 eclipse but when i went to install this head unit, there was no mounting bracket on which to mount the new equipment. i quickly fabricated a make-shift bracket to hold temporarily. I need to order the real bracket for the cd player but this one is the onle one i can find. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1tlV1i1rvEM/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=112200&id=morephotos&pi=2&i=120997892&display=XL#Tab my problem is, by looking at this picture, i can only see that it comes with a DIN pocket. Now, How would the cd player be fastened to the car with this bracket? I dont want to order it unless I am certain it is what I need. If you guys/gals can explain to me how the new headuinit will fasten to the bracket, and therefor to the car, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks icE_x 06-12-2005, 09:35 PM i jus finished installing a new unit in my 95 accord and i got the same mounting bracket (the original they gave me broke so they sent me a new one for free) and after you take it all apart and drop in the mounting bracket, the headunit kind of sits in that opening. Does the head unit have a lil cage around it? I believe that'd help to put it in place, but mine hold up really well it doesn't shake or move or gets loose. InstallTech 06-13-2005, 01:49 AM Here's the skinny on that bracket.....in the Eclipse, the cd player was probably mounted on the factory radio brackets (ISO mount). Basicly this means that the cd players mounting sleeve isn't used, and the radio is just mounted directly to the factory mounting brackets. All radios come equiped with a mounting sleeve. So....check your box and see if it's still in there. Otherwise, try your local install shop and see if they've got one for your particular radio. You'll need that sleeve to mount the cd player into the new pocket/kit assembly, and then the whole thing will mount in place of the old radio. However....some of those mounting kits come with ISO brackets, but those can get confusing and sometimes require some modification to get them to fit right, so you're just better off finding the mounting sleeve for your radio. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
