[97 LT 4X4 150k miles]

I recently had a heater core replaced on my blazer. however, i dont know how that affects the AC. When turned on, it has good pressure, however the air does not get as cold as it should, even when turned all the way to the "cold" side. What are some possible causes for this and maybe even possible solutions? Thanks

Maybe low on freon...

You need to get pressure readings. Without them you are flying blind.

hmm... so, whereabouts could i go to get this done?

Find someone with a set of gages. Or you need to take to mechanic. The readings tell you everything that is going on with the system.

anyone know how much freeon is a gallon?

oh ok, i wasnt sure because someone mentioned they thought a place charged like $35 plus the price of freeon used and i thought he said per gallon but i guess i was mistaken. thanks though!

It is not Freon, it is R134A.

Go to AutoZone and get one of the recharge bottles with the gauge.

Start the truck, put the temp to cold, the fan to high and the controls to MAX AC.

Charge from the low pressure connection port and release the charge can to get a reading from the gauge.

Use the Measure & Charge from Interdynamics

okay, thanks. what will this tell me? and where is the low pressure connection port?

The low pressure port will be located on the side of the silver looking can under the hood. In my truck, it's on the passenger side. (An older '95 Blazer) It will have a cap on it that you twist off, looking like a bigger version of a tire valve. You cannot accidentally hook up a refill bottle/gage/hose to the high pressure side, it simply does not fit. For reference, the high pressure port is on the lower return line between the bottom of your silver can (dryer/accumulator) and the side of the A/C compressor.
