h22 turbo???????born khatarnak 06-08-2005, 11:23 PM hello. i think i read somewhere that turboing an h22 powered accord is not a good idea. i was wondering why? i am going to swap an jdm h22 type s into my accord and i plan on turbocharging it. i was also wondering if you guys think i should stick with my accord 5 sp tranny or get the h22 maual tranny? really appreciate it. CivicSpoon 06-09-2005, 12:47 AM Neither. The type s has a traction control called ATTS (just like the prelude sh). It has a completely different tranny, and axles than the other H22s. You'll end up with one huge headache trying to fabricate a mount (for the axle) to be able to use a regular h22a tranny or the accord tranny with it. If you want an H22a with 220hp, look for the Euro R version. Otherwise buy the regular H22a and build it. People do say that it's a bad idea to turbo the h22a engines. It is and it isn't. The problem people have is when they try to add aftermarket pistons without resleeving the block. The stock sleeves are made of some kind of fiber that don't work with aftermarket pistons (there is a company that claims theirs work fine with them). Another thing people say is that the H22a has an open deck. This is also half true. Some have the open deck and some have the closed deck (I believe it's the '92-'96 with the closed deck). h22meangreen 06-14-2005, 02:31 AM i know you love your accord but i dont think you shoud do the swap. unless your willing to put up with a lot of headaces. accords are naturally heavy and even with an h22 your car will always be limeted be the accords weight. i have a jdm h22a in my 90 accord and im selling it. i ve done everthing other than nitrious, rods and pistons and i still only see that car runing high 13s low 14s. parts are sometimes rear and expensive, and dont believe in turboig 22s unless like he said resleeving the block and doing it right. 22s do not handle boast well. but however i know your going to do the swap anyways because thats what i did. anyways if your going to get a tranny you must get a tranny from a h series engine if you want it to last. the accord tranny was not meant to handle that kind of torque and will start to fall apart. when i changed my tranny after it went bad a got lsd the second time and it made a big diff. it allows you to come out the hole at a lot higher rpm and actrally hook. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
