Is my 2000 civic ex a vtecinfinityMan4521 06-07-2005, 11:53 PM i own a 2000 civic ex and every place i look it says that the ex comes with the d16y8 vtec. My cars engine says honda on the head rather then vtec. Does this mean it is not a vtec? Most people i talk to say my car is not a vtec. Can anyone help me out. Ace$nyper 06-08-2005, 12:06 AM its a sohc vtec meaning at about 5K the motor sounds even more annoying DAGAME 06-08-2005, 12:25 AM its vtec just show those ppl who say its not a vtec the vtec solenoid on the head. MexSiR 06-08-2005, 03:48 PM Its not a vtec. Period. The VTEC on your engine was made to save gas and sound loud, no power, no purpose IMO. AceSynper reply was excellent, read that again. And Again. DAGAME 06-08-2005, 11:09 PM the only vtec that is good for gas mileage is the hx's vtec-e, i know when i kick into vtec on my ex it doesnt save me on gas exman98 06-08-2005, 11:34 PM i can tell a little extra push in my 98 ex coupe but that might just be a feeling more in my head than me actauly going faster.
