My 92 Tercel had to go under the knife!! 193,600 and I just couldn't stand having to put in a quart of oil every 350 miles. Found the compression to be 80, 135, 90 and 175 psi. When we took it apart the cylinder walls looked like they just left the machine shop but the oil rings were collapsed. There wasn't even a lip at the top of the cylinders. Had the head reworked, rings, rod bearings, new oil and water pump, new timing and accessory belts, tensioner, fuel filter and the rest of normal things changed out. The crank and block stayed in the car and we didn't have to replace the main bearings since everything was still so tight. Fired it up Sunday and it drives like a new car. Kind of strange not seeing the smoke pump out after starting it up now!! Including beer money it was around $800.00.
