Ok first off i bought a 1991 318is with about 150k on it, however there is less miles on it because the gears were lowered before i owned it so everything reads over so i really have no idea how many miles on it, whether its only 100k or 120k or whatever. the engine sounded great and it worked fine, my brother is really good with cars and he even said it seems amazing for an older car. There is a valve tap in it though. One day i was driving and the word "INSPECTION" lights up on the dash board and has been there for about 2 days now. When i bought my car there was no manual in it and i have no idea what that means or if there is something i am supposed to look at or what. if anyone has ANY idea what it means PLEASE HELP ME!! thank youu. o yea another thing, every once in awhile the spot that has the time and temp and all that stuff will go crazy and all the lights will blink at random and if i hit the dash board really hard a few times it'll snap back to normal, not sure if that will effect anything, thanks again for any help you can offer.

are you sure thats all it needs???

my brother replaced all the fluids went we bought it and its been about 2,700 miles since i bought it... do you think it might go off if the brakes are worn? because i think my brakes might need to be replaced.

i think on the older bmw the have small light on the display that will change from green to yellow to red for you to have your car serviced ie oil change check filters etc. you have to reset the inspection light. look it up on how to do it. I bought a tool for that. Peake tool. As for your brakes there should be a light that will warn you when the pads are due for replacement. however i would take wheel off and check pads to be sure

The inspection is a service reminder. Its due for either an inspection1 or 2 depending on the mileage and service last performed. You can get the checklist for it at the dealer they may just give you one.

the inspection light really just goes off how many miles you have traveled, it, does not mean there is anything wrong with ure bimmer.

here is an inspection 1 & 2 chart:

that site has a lot of information for your E30, give it a look. . .GL
