Headlight assy removalMorley 06-05-2005, 11:41 PM I'm trying to replace the plastic piece that fills in between the bumper and front facia on an 89 Caprice wagon....How does the headlight assembly come out? I can find no screws, bolts or nuts that will make it let go. Thanks. PeteA216 06-07-2005, 05:24 PM On the late 80's Caprices it might be different, but on my '84 I know theres 6 torx stainless steel screws in the black grooves going around the piece on the top and bottom, and along the back side of the turn signal (sometimes hard to see). Then the only thing holding it on is the turn signal light plug, which just turns out after you've pulled of the plastic piece. I went looking at the headlight buckets on line and in about 87 they changed drastically. PeteA216 06-09-2005, 11:20 PM Yeah, I know watcha mean. Did you try to just pull.... sometimes they use some metal spring clips that slide into holes. Its just a guess, I haven't dealt with a Caprice newer than an '85 with the exception of my grandfather's '96. Morley 06-10-2005, 01:21 AM Yeah, I know watcha mean. The headlight is one big piece, looks like 2 of the larger sealed beams fused into one long light. That sits in the headlight bucket and has less than a 1/8" gap all the way around it and no screws visable on the outside, nor from the back side. This really has me stumped. kahjdh 06-20-2005, 02:12 PM there sould be 4 bezel nuts behind the assembly that you take off to get the headlight off and then 3 more to get the bucket off. I got a factory service manual and it said the same thing...But there aren't any nuts back there, just one that goes to a stud that holds the header panel on (noise piece) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
