Ok.... I must be a complete idiot but I can't seem to remove the full doors from my 2004 wrangler sport.

Somebody tell me step by step how to do it with the right tools. Please. I promise that I will contribute to the forum if you all help me out.

Ok this is what you do. Get a can of WD40, spray 1/4 of the can on each hinge post. Let it soak in for a good 20 minutes. Lift the fabric strap off from inside the cab. Grab the under-side of the door, and lift straight up. The door should come off. Mine were rusted in. But mine is a '93 YJ, could be different, I dunno.

Man I tried it. Ugh. Wrenched my back. Could the hinges be painted on or something? My driver's side moved about a quarter of an inch up and that was it. Any other ideas?

There should be a nut on the bottom of the hinge that holds it on. It's painted, so may not be easily visible. You'll have to remove the nut (or nuts), then the door should lift out like Canamark said.

Also, I think the process is detailed in your owner's manual.

The nut on the bottom of the hinge posts is 1/2 inch, but because of the paint, a 13mm socket on a 1/4 inch driver with about a 4 inch extension with wobble is the easiest way to remove them. Then store them somewhere for if you (gasp) ever decide to sell your rig. You don't need the to hold the door on and they just get in the way. Hope this helps.
