AC Drip???muzzy1maniac 06-04-2005, 08:19 PM I was driving around today- out on about 45miles in 75degree weather - when I parked at a store I had water? dripping under the truck near the front pass wheel well. I know your calling me an idiot so far and you're gonna say it's condensation from running the AC - right? Well I wasn't running the AC! I've never seen this before. It has to be condensation but why?? I double checked and the air was off. Has anyone had this happen? biv343 06-04-2005, 09:06 PM Defroster wasn't on by chance was it? muzzy1maniac 06-05-2005, 04:46 AM I think it was set to the defroster/floor setting. Booch 06-05-2005, 11:29 AM If the defroster is turned on, the air conditioning compressor is active; start your car up and turn on the defroster, and you'll see the compressor engage. They do this to make sure the compressor doesn't bind up in the winter, when it doesn't get used. Don't worry, sounds like it was condensation after all. muzzy1maniac 06-05-2005, 11:58 AM I figured it was. I wasn't too worried just curious. Thanks! JA no Y 06-06-2005, 03:22 AM Long as there was no coolant mix on the ground I'd say it was the compressor. rlith 06-06-2005, 09:36 AM Long as there was no coolant mix on the ground I'd say it was the compressor. You mean the dryer :D chcknugget 06-06-2005, 10:28 AM Hahaha, my compressor used to drip... JB Weld fixed that! JA no Y 06-07-2005, 12:37 AM LOL...yeah...I do mean the dryer. See what happens when you up too late and replying to posts. redwheeler 06-07-2005, 08:34 PM so tell me this why are u calling it the dryer what runs is a refrigant compressor biv343 06-08-2005, 08:51 AM The dryer will get condensation on it when the AC is running. tsiedsma 06-08-2005, 01:02 PM I thought it was called the condenser not the dryer. biv343 06-08-2005, 01:27 PM The dondenser is in the front of the vehicle ahead of the radiator. The receiver dryer is the metal can shaped thing that's in the engine compartment near the evaporator housing. biv343 06-08-2005, 01:28 PM duhh. condenser, not dondenser. tsiedsma 06-08-2005, 01:29 PM The dondenser is in the front of the vehicle ahead of the radiator. The receiver dryer is the metal can shaped thing that's in the engine compartment near the evaporator housing. Good thing I am not a mechanic. Thanks for the info. Allbert 06-09-2005, 12:54 PM While we're chatting, doesn't most of the condensation occur on and drip from the evaporator? biv343 06-09-2005, 07:50 PM Almost all of the condensation/moisture will come from the evaporator (thats what causes the puddle under the car) - but you'll get some "heavy dew" on the dryer and possibly one of the refrigerant lines. It's doubtful it would ever make it to the ground though - most of it would evaporate due to the heat under the hood. BlazerLT 06-18-2005, 10:41 AM The AC system is supposed to drip. Anyone JB welding it so it doesn't doesn't know what they are doing and should cease repairing stuff that they have no clue about. chcknugget 06-18-2005, 11:29 AM The AC system is supposed to drip. I said my compressor was dripping. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
