Different types of Tamiya spraypaintitchya 06-04-2005, 05:01 PM Is there any difference between Tamiya spray paint, Tamiya aircraft spray paint, and Tamiya RC car spray paint? My hobby store only has the color I want in RC paint so if I get that will I be able to use it safely on my model car? Thanks! freakmech 06-04-2005, 05:20 PM RC paint is made to work on Lexan and WILL NOT work well for plastic models. all other Tamiya paint is the same in the cans... its Lacquer. RC paint is poly-carbonate. SteveK2003 06-04-2005, 06:07 PM Right: The spray paints and aircraft/armor paints are just categorized by colors. The RC paint has a flex agent in it to stick to Lexan, and will dry flat or semi-gloss on plastic. bhop73 06-04-2005, 06:31 PM I was forced to use some of Tamiya's R/C paint on a Mecha model I built because it was the only transparent pink I could find anywhere of any type. The model was made from clear resin. I had the hardest time getting it to stick, but finally figured out a way to make it to work right by spraying multiple light coats with my airbrush. It's topped off with hand-brushed Future. http://www.bhop73.com/models/newled/led01.jpg itchya 06-05-2005, 09:10 PM Thanks guys! I'll wait for some new stock then. :) SteveK2003 06-05-2005, 10:13 PM My LHS has a whole new stock of paints in the rack, so yours shouldn't be too far behind. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
