JDM ZC in 92 dx?SweetcherryJDM 06-04-2005, 06:27 AM Hi all, Well i have a 92 dx coupe, and ive been working on it for a while, ive re-painted it white, added a nice planet audio system(sub&), put 17inch black rims(w/chrome lip), as well as skunk2 coil overs, short shifter, inject cold air intake, and a Greddy cat-back exhaust.....and now i want to do a motor swap, but not one that u see everyday, i just got a jdm zc dohc, and i want to put it in my dx....im looking forward to haveing 137hp instead of 102 =/....no i dont want a dohc vtec blah blah blah.....i want to put my zc in my dx, but im not sure of what ill need to do it....i have the motor and ecu....and i was told it will fit on my tranny, so could someone plz tell me what ill next extra, and any little things i should know about this swap so i can do it on my own =D, thanks all! ~laura diegoaccord 06-04-2005, 10:29 AM First off, a ZC has 130 PS, or 129 HP. Second which DOHC ZC do you have? There are 3 main ones, The brown top (obvioulsy you DON'T have) The EF6, EF7 ODB0 - this comes with a PM7 ECU The EG5 OBD1 - This comes with P29 ECU If you have the OBD0, you need to have the wiring converted to OBD1, use a OBD1 dstributor, and use a P29 ECU. The OBD1 ZC is plug and play, but make sure the ECU is P29, not P28. ECU options: P29 is optimal, but hard to get. Or get your P06 chipped to P29 specs. Tranny options: You can use your DX tranny, but why? The gears are so long that you won't be able to tell the difference fron your D15B7. You should get a EX/Si tranny. Otherwise your swap will be a waste. A note about trannies. Look at my sig, you see the SOHC VTEC, and then the DOHC VTEC. I swapped in an B18B Integra LS tranny for my B16, which has nearly the same gearing as my SOHC VTEC tranny, which is much too long for the engine. Now there is no difference in my car until 3rd gear. The same will happen to you, you will wonder why did that D15 keep up with me? I get hung with by SOHC VTEC until 3rd gear, and other B16's kill me off the line. Do yourself a favor and get the EX/Si tranny. Do yourself a real favor and get a B16. SweetcherryJDM 06-04-2005, 07:48 PM ok i found out i have the obdo1 model.... thanks for all the info, ive talked to a few freinds, and my freind who had a 95ex and did a b16 swap is going to give me his tranny, as well as a stage2 clutch and flywheel he had on it....today me and a few of my freinds already started to take the motor out, and by tonight we should have it out, and the tranny soon after, hopefully ill have it all done and running in 3 to 4 days =D, thanks for the advice! but i got a question! how did u get ur picture thingy to show up on the bottom of ur post? cuz html wont work right for me =( ~laura diegoaccord 06-05-2005, 07:57 AM All you have to do host a picture somewhere, or and type in the adress of the picture, using image tags.
