91 Park Avenue A/C Code 152parkavenuechrome 06-01-2005, 06:28 PM I refilled my ac to a filled capacity and the ac worked fine for about a month, today it kicked over to Economy mode and would not go to coool mode to turn on the ac. I ran the test and got Code 152 which i understand is Code 152 is Keep Alive Memory lost; sets with the battery disconnected. What exectly Does that mean? Earlier in the year I had to freon in the sys. I refilled it and it held pressure fine. acually I had way to much pressure in the system when i checked it today which is wierd since i did not add any freon since the refill, I reset the sys by disconnecting the battery and then it went on for aboutg 5 second till it dies again with code 152 any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks! Flatrater 06-01-2005, 08:16 PM Code 52 sounds like a low freon code to me out of memory. If you go to econ mode than the system is seeing low freon level. If you want to test this get your low pressure switch and jumper both terminals together. Nex6t disconnect the battery, hook it up and see if the comp engages and stays in auto mode, If it does than you have a leak. parkavenuechrome 06-01-2005, 09:13 PM Code 52 sounds like a low freon code to me out of memory. Thanks for the input... I'll let you know later tonight! volkerc 06-02-2005, 01:56 PM OK I will do that this evening when I drive out... Thanks for the input... I'll let you know later tonight! code 152 comes up after you disconnected the battery. if you check this forum there was a thread with all codes explained. code 66 is low freon. i just had a code 132 (no data ) , causing my compressor not to kick in. i disconnected the battery, and everyting reset itself. of course i had code 152 displayed also. that one will go away and will chnage to 00 no codes or will display another error if it still exists. but 152 will be displayed after the battery was disconnected, so nothing to worry about. to find the other thread in this forum, just go to the park avenue forum as usual then enter "a/c" into the search and you will find the thread with the codes. 2 or more members had them listed in their responses. volkerc 06-02-2005, 02:00 PM besides jumping the switch did not work on my 91 to engage the compressor at all. i had to have the system filled by a pro and it worked like a charm afterwards. don't forget you need to pull a vacuum before you refill the a/c. Then you must of done something wrong because I have done this to hundreds of cars and it has worked everytime. Either you didn't have the low pressure switch jumper or you didn't clear the codes. Also code 66 isn't the only low freon code that can be stored. The only thing that can trip the system to go into economy is a low system charge. By jumpering the low pressure switch you fool the system into thinking the system is full and it will allow AC operation after clearing of the codes. I wouldn't leave the switch jumpered because the low charge while the AC is running will hurt the comp. I would also bet I can tell you where your freon leak is without even looking at your car. Pull your blower motor resistor out and look at your evaporator core, it should be nice and clean in the fin area, If you have a dirty material stuck to the fins than your core is leaking your freon. The oil form the system leaks out and the dirty and junk in the air sticks to the oil clooging the fins. I have done several hundred evap core. parkavenuechrome 06-03-2005, 11:56 PM I Went out and bought a can of freon, filled it again to where it registered full when the pump was engauged and it still did the same thing everytime i cleared the codes using the control panel. After being fustrated i disconnected the battery for an hour, reconected it and BAM! ICE COLD AC! I used it today and it works great! better than it did when i refilled it this season, but obviously I have a leak somewhere... I looked around, I put stop leak in it last year and this year and the stuff is green, i don't see any green anywhere except for the Ports. The Pump at first makes a bit of noise when you turn it on but the quiets up nice. I added Oil to the system and it improved. Where is the comon place for leaks on these cars? volkerc 06-04-2005, 05:28 AM I Went out and bought a can of freon, filled it again to where it registered full when the pump was engauged and it still did the same thing everytime i cleared the codes using the control panel. First off I know how to jump the switch, and it did not work. Secondly because all of my freon, R12 that was, had gone, I had to change the sytem to R134A, and all that needed to be done was replace all the o-seals and the dryer. And it is working excellent without no loss of gas.So there is no other leak, cause that has been checked also! Love it when people make statements like that,"without even seeing your car". Thanks for trying to make me work for nothing. And besides I did not say I had problems with my A/C that was the other guy. Flatrater 06-04-2005, 08:23 PM eeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, WRONG! And BTW they are called "O RINGS"! If you had no problems then why are you telling me I made you work for nothing. volkerc 06-05-2005, 05:31 AM I love when backyard mechanics think they know it all. Love it, didn't know a guy that owns a shop is now considered a backyard mechanic!? And as to the rest of your comment you need to read the comments better. Flatrater 06-05-2005, 11:46 AM I could sit here and trade insults with you all day now that I know you aren't a back yard mechanic since I have more respect for them. But this will not get us anywhere so I suggest we stop this. Now here is the truth the AC system is a sealed system, no way in or out. If you are low on Freon or R-134a you have a leak. Using stop leak in your system is dangerous and will lead to parts replacement. volkerc 06-05-2005, 01:53 PM I could sit here and trade insults with you all day now that I know you aren't a back yard mechanic since I have more respect for them. I don't have a problem, member parkavenuechrome started this thread with his post/problems.and what i replied with was info about the codes.
