1992 Front Wheel Removal Bang? Lube? Crowbar? Heat???peter88 05-31-2005, 03:25 PM Hi, I have a '92 4Runner. The wheels haven't been removed in years and I'm having a hard time. Lug nuts are off but the wheel won't budge. Would someone please confirm that on the '92 the 5 lug nuts are all that need to come off in order to remove the wheel? Secondly, has anyone had the same problem and found a solution that works? (aside from going for a FREE brake repair estimate) Brian R. 05-31-2005, 11:46 PM Penetrating oil on the lugs and hub and around the back where you can get to the wheel may do it. fourwd1 06-01-2005, 04:57 PM Aggressive use of a rubber mallet has worked for me. Brian R. 06-01-2005, 09:04 PM Or Both peter88 06-02-2005, 11:19 AM Problem solved, I went in for a "free estimate" quickie at a local garage. Took the guy over 1 full hour to get both wheels off. What did it was WD-40 (although i suspect Releaseall may be better for this) and a sledge hammer used with discretion on the the tire, many, many times. Then he tries to charge me $20 bucks for the free estimate. I would have called the cops to release my car and then sued him for damage to my tires if he persisted. He didn't. Now I will try to change my rotors myself. I understand this is a bit of a job on a '92. Thank you guys! Brian R. 06-02-2005, 04:02 PM You're welcome madbodger 06-09-2005, 06:06 AM I realize this post is too late to help you but for any one else with this problem, a near sure fix is loosen all the lugs a couple or three threads, squirt the studs with a good penetrant, and drive the thing a little with a couple turns to left and right. DON'T do this on the road, back and forth in a driveway will work. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
