Time for New Tires, Which Ones to Buy?donmiller 05-30-2005, 07:54 PM It's time for tires for my 2001 4X4 4Runner and wanted to get opinions. Best mileage tire Quiet on the road All weather traction ?????? Most of my miles are on payment but I do a little light off roading on dirt roads. Size P265/70/R16 Regards Don 98-4runner 05-30-2005, 10:11 PM both my two suvs are using michelin cross terrain. fourwd1 06-01-2005, 04:59 PM BFG ATs, Bridgestone ATs or AT Revos All 3 are good for what you require. VTISC007 06-08-2005, 11:16 PM It doesn't even sound like you need All-Terrain tires. Just get some descent good brand tires for street use. Passenger type tires will get you the best mileage because they create less rolling resistance and they will be very quiet. Dirt roads can be traveled upon without the need for All-Terrains. If you are sensitive about tire noise, don't get All-Terrains. I've known people who think BFG A/T's are too noisy. I am very particular when choosing my tires. I do need aggressive Mud style tires, but that's just me. fourwd1 06-09-2005, 02:31 PM When he said all weather I assumed mud & snow rated, therefore AT's. If there's no mud and snow, street tread is probably OK. Never heard anyone say BFG AT's were loud. But to anyone not used to a more aggressive tread, any AT might be loud. And if an AT is loud, they'd freak if they heard my 36" Swampers. :icon16: VTISC007 06-09-2005, 04:56 PM When he said all weather I assumed mud & snow rated, therefore AT's. My next set will be Swampers.....I might have to get a bigger amplifier though. ***Just a note: I've seen the "Mud & Snow" ratings on almost every Passenger tire that I've laid eyes on; It is denoted by an "M+S" on the sidewall, usually next to the size. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
