Blowby Gases/ Oil Catch CanOzzcaddy 05-30-2005, 07:24 AM I have a '95 Mitsubishi Magna V6 3 litre in Australia. The engine suffers from excessive blowby gases, that causes excessive pressure that the PCV system cannot handle, and has blown the engine seals. My mechanic repaired the seals, and cut a vertical groove in the diptsick seal to allow for excessive gases to escape. The dipstick is left about 1/4" above the top of the dipstick tube. This modification works well for city driving, but I just did a highway trip, and oil was spattered over the engine. So I guess it can't handle that kind of driving. Would a Oil Catch Can alleviate or reduce the amount of pressure build up caused by the blowby gases? I'm trying to save $$$ and not strip the engine down. Drill it out large and thread in a breather like from a small engine of some kind - like a screen-filled cap. Old engines used to have this kind of breather oil cap. Maybe find an '50s era engine and modify it's breather. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
