Thanks in advance!!!:) atamotua 05-30-2005, 08:34 PM The most common problem with the drive belts on 240sx is the POWER STEERING belt. I had to get mine tight 3-4 times before it stopped squilling. I'm not sure how the 89s are, but they too should have 3 belts, alternator, pow steering, and AC.... get them all nice and tight.... If it's time to replace them get them from Nissan dealer... i got them from somewhere else before and they were so stretchy, so rubbery... i had to get them tight about 3 times and even after that the power steering belt which also turns the water pump got so loose it was coming off the pulleys and it my car was getting hot... zdude 05-30-2005, 10:12 PM wierd, i didnt have a powersteering pump for a while, which means no belt. and my car was fine with heat control. my alternator belt was the worst, i got it from a reliable, basically not NAPA, auto shop and it was fine after that. its about 15 bucks honestly, if you know anything about nuts and bolts, you can replace the belt. one very nice thing to have is a good shop manual. haynes, chilton, and others exist. they saved me a lot, as well as this forum. and still, my car managed to go up in flames. lol Scootzilla 06-04-2005, 05:20 AM I just looked up on autozone.com and i saw that they have the gatorback altnernator and a/c belt both for 15 buack so 30 bucks for both is a hell of a good deal. for belts Scootzilla 06-04-2005, 05:34 AM Plus make sure there's no oil or anything on them that might make them slip as well. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
