I went to pull the inside release hood latch of my 93 caprice tonight and it broke (spring unhooked). As such the hood will not open. I actually unbolted the release latch handle casing from the inside (cable still connected) to see if I could place the spring back in it - but I cannot figure out how it should go together. after 60 minutes I gave up.

I am thinking if I can get the hood open that might set the tension right on the cable. Any quick ways of popping the hood. I tired pulling on the cable really hard on the inside but it does not open - I am concerned if I pull super hard the cable may break off. Can I open it on the outside, if I sitck a screwdriver in to move the secondary latch?

Any suggestions?? Thanks

I had this trouble on my 92 wagon .... I tried 4ever then sprayed the under hood latch with some white lube and pulled super hard on the cable ....didnt work then I drove around the block and poof it cam unlatched. After it was open I cleaned the latch and cable lubed it up and it works now with a good tug. Still have not replaces the interior cable tho.....Good luck

Thanks, I pulled really hard and sprayed WD40 through the grill and it finally popped. I too cleaned the latch and lubed the cable. Although the inside release latch is hanging somewhat loose - if you pull it will now work!
