hi guys, i just bought a 1984 318i and am new to the bmw world,,

first off while im driving the car there's a strong smell of fuel in the car,,second i noticed something is leaking ,located on the side of the engine between the engine and firewall,,not sure what that part is ,,third the car gets very poor gas mileage ,, and fourth it doesnt idle high at a cold start,,can somebody help me figure out whats wrong with this car

i just noticed the hose that goes from the fuel rail to what i believe is the fuel filter has a small hole in it

When was the last time this car had a tune up?

and fuel filter change?

Mine car doesn't idle very high on cold start.

They say in the morning try not to go above 3000rpm until temp gauge is at normal.
