An AC / radio question

Hello and thanks for any advice.

I have a 93 Civic with 198K miles on it. For the past year, the AC and radio have been acting up.

1. The radio goes off and on. Sometimes it switches speakers. It can be brought back by a whack on the dash over the radio.

2. The AC - it will start in the morning. However, if the day gets hot, it won't start up. However, a similar whack on the dash can get it to start up.

Sometimes the whack does nothing.

The dealer told me that the AC problem is due to the computer not sending the right signals or getting the right signals. Sometimes the whack drives the right bits into it, I suppose.

The radio is supposedly broken and needs replacement.

I am a touch suspicious as the same whack in the same places cures both problems sometimes.

I would appreciate any insight into the difficulty.

Thank you.
