Maybe...does it die when you push in the brake? My friends 72 Ford Ranger XLT used to swallow brake fluid for some reason but there was crazy smoke. nissan_240sx 05-23-2005, 07:52 AM yeah i have the same feeling..(fuel/air) maybe my fuel filter.. naw it dosent die when i press the brake.. its when i put it in neutral and let off the gas. its kinda odd, never happened before. R.W.240 05-23-2005, 12:11 PM Sounds like you blew your brake booster hose off some how. :dunno: definatly sounds like a Vacuum issue. Murherar 05-23-2005, 12:45 PM its ur fuel sensor regulator or whatever it is called, i just had my sr20 put in, and it was running open, with no air filter, and i would be driving and then i would brake and then the sensor gets confused and wants to stall the car...It happened to me, i put an air filter on my car and it stopped doing that, but it sounds like ur car is doing the same thing mine did...So check ur air filter, and if it seems ok it may be your sensor..at least thats what it seems like to me. nissan_240sx 05-23-2005, 06:06 PM ok ill check it out once i get home, if you have any info on this please post thanks.. SR20DETpower 05-23-2005, 06:31 PM RW is right..... there is a hose that runs from engine to brake booster, on one end it is blown off.... or there is a hole blown out in it... that is defintely the first place to look.. nissan_240sx 05-24-2005, 12:20 AM RW is right..... there is a hose that runs from engine to brake booster, on one end it is blown off.... or there is a hole blown out in it... that is defintely the first place to look.. where can i find this hose, and the brake booster..? ill check on it.. oh and when i start the car i hear a hissing like noise... btw thanks for helping me out.. nissan_240sx 05-24-2005, 01:22 AM It was the brake booster hose, i found it by following the big hose that ran from the master brake cyl. to the engine. right in above the engine there is a place where the two hoses connect, i guess the clamp got loose some how.. but the cars good now. just wanna say thanks to all the guys that took the time to help me out.. i bet if i brought the car to a shop id come out broke lol. Thanks again guys! Peace! R.W.240 05-24-2005, 11:58 AM ALL HAIL FOR I AM THE GOD OF ALL THAT IS RELATED TO KNOWING WHEN THAT HOSE THING GOING TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER POPS OFF!!1 w00t!1 orestes 05-24-2005, 02:57 PM lol. i think that happened to my old ass camry, all the sudden there was no power and it sounded like i was running like 30 lbs of boost. loud ass wooshing but no power. so i pulled over, popped the hood, and went, Hey look at that, a hose is not connected. end of problem. SR20DETpower 05-25-2005, 12:47 PM that noise is a vacume leak, which makes you feel like you have no power. That booster operates off of the vacume so when there is no more vacume there is no more power brakes... One little hose can make the brakes stop working right and the engine run bad..... pesky little hose they are LOL nissan_240sx 05-27-2005, 08:16 AM yup dang hoses. I bought new clamps for the brake booster hose and made sure it wont come off again lol. the old clamp was pretty rusty, id suggest inspecting your clamp and change it if they're bad. imagine you speeding and then the hose pops off and your brake pedel gets all stiff.. pretty scary lol johnnyboy5 05-27-2005, 10:50 AM hmmm, then thats probably the same thing thats about to happen to me, i have a similar problem. when i go into neutral my car goes down to to the regular idle and then down to 500 rpm, without pressing anything, and it does the same when im pressing the brakes or slowing down, it stays there in both situations, till the car is at a full stop. I just upgraded my fuel filter to a 300zx fuel filter, could that be it? johnnyboy5 05-27-2005, 10:51 AM or maybe ill just clean my air filter Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
