oil breather?mrpibsk8er 05-23-2005, 03:10 AM So I was talking to this dude about cold air inductions and he told me that if you have the oil breather hose in your induction then it eliminates the "cold air" effect. I was just wondering if this is true he did it to his eclipse but he didn't put a filter on it he just took his hose out of his induction... :screwy: but anyways I was just wondering if I should take mine out and maybe get an oil breather filter for that hose. Has anyone done this or know if it's a good idea or a bad one? thnx Greenblurr93 05-23-2005, 10:02 AM well... letting the hose vent into the atmosphere is illegal, and as far as having that hose in your pipe, i dont see how it could effedt things too much, ok sure the air coming through may be a warmer than the air your sucking in through your CAI, but look at the size of the tube, its tiny, it probably has so little of an effect that you wouldnt notice a differance... so keep your car legal and leave it alone. mrpibsk8er 05-24-2005, 09:34 AM aight thnx for the info Kven 05-24-2005, 12:02 PM a guy on HT did a test and they said its better to have vacuum in the valve cover(also, lots of racers hook hoses up to the exhaust collector to try to take advantage of the bernouli effect and create a even stronger vacuum under the valve cover); using a breather would allow atmospheric pressure in. superbluecivicsi 05-24-2005, 04:52 PM mrpibsk8er 05-29-2005, 11:23 AM can you explain what the bernouli effect is. that's the first time I've ever heard of that. maybe explain how they hook it up to the exhaust collector? mrpibsk8er 05-31-2005, 02:36 AM yeah I heard yesterday that it is not a good idea to take the oil breather tube out of your induction because it takes away your vacuum at higher rpms if you do that and could damage your motor possibly vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
