I carry a 28ft extention ladder and a 7ft step on my installs. I'm trying to find the right after market setup for this scenario. Any feedback would be a great help, Thanks abunch.5/23/05 pelican712 09-14-2005, 07:39 PM I"m looking for a ladder rack for a 4Runner too. I think I have to have an 18ft ladder. Did you ever find any ladder racks for 4Runners? I have a 97. I was thinking maybe a van rack might work. What did you find out? THanks. Wht4Runner 09-15-2005, 12:04 AM Hi Pelican, No after marker rack found that I was willing to pay for. Though some of the cheaper racks required drilling holes in the roof , the love for my 4Runner just couldn't bring me to do so. So I examined what I had to carry. I made one that enabled me to carry both ladders on two levels, that way I could remove each without having to untie both all the time. It's a very simple design with minimal pieces of 1/2 galvanized threaded pipe. Then I secured it to the existing anchored roof rack with 8 military, hvy duty, UV treated, 175lb rated zip ties. I cut the zip ties when I out of town and put new ties on come Monday morning work. 10 ties around $3-4 at Lowes. The rack cost me around 25-30 bucks compared to 300-500 for a namebrand!. How's that for ingenuity? Hope that helps, remember the mother of invention is "necessity" rsharpe03 10-02-2005, 07:49 PM Hi, Im in the same boat. I have a 91 4Runner and need to carry a 28ft fiberglass extension ladder and a 7ft step ladder.Any help, pictures, plans, or ideas will be greatly appreciated. thanks Randall badhabit 10-06-2005, 04:15 AM i made a roof rack for my 4runner as i didnt like the idea of drilling holes in the canopy roof. it was very easy to make and i can disassemble it and take it off completely, i had to make mine heavy duty as we do a lot of 4 wheel driving and i need to carry anything from jerry cans to water containers to 3 spare tryres and 2 tool boxes, usually all at the same time. i would be more than happy to supply photos but i wasnt sure how to include them in this post but i could email them. rsharpe03 10-06-2005, 10:23 AM BadHabit, Please email to rsharpe03@yahoo.com any pictures, plans or measurement that you may have. I would greatly appreciate it.thanks alot Randall bowerpj 11-28-2005, 06:11 PM I've haulled my 24' ladder using Yakima Q Towers, plus one set of their "Control" Towers attached to the factory rack channels, moved to the furthest rear position. Makes for a fairly wide spread without drilling holes. Plus removes quickly when need be. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
