Really brighten up the road

I was at my local NAPA the other day getting some stuff for my truck and my old 52 ford tractor. I was getting some of those generic 3.5" lamps to put on the back of my tractor, and truck as work lights.

The kid behind the counter asks if I want a set with a little more candle power for a relitivly low cost. I said what for these seem to be bright enough. His answer blew me away.

He says, well you buy the standard lamp assymbly for about $9.00, then he says we have the part number and have in stock Cessna Head Lamps, which just happen to fit perfectly in these housings. he takes me out side and shows me his truck which at first look I didnt see any extra lampage.

He hops in fires it up and I thought God or Mosses was apearing in front of me. He had mounted them behind the grill. These things were so bright they lit up the street he was parked on for the full lenght of the street five blocks BRIGHT WHITE LIHGT!

The lamps were $9.99 and bulbs were $39.99 each. Fantastic when your in the hills or out on the hiway and want to see a lilltle further ahead, like a mile or so.

I had to change the supply wire up to a 10 ga. multi-strand, and I notice they do put a bit of a load on the alternator when I have the truck lit up. So I am thinking about a larger alt. but man what a kick!

Just don't turn em on an a honda driver, or a 4X4 toyota for that matter. It seems to cause a rather semi-permanent state of white-light-itess, IE they cant see a darn thing for some time. However I think they may think your an estrestial space craft!! LOL!

Cheap thrills! Hey they cut through ground fog really well too. Just don't let a cop catch you with em on. I don't even want to think of that ticket!!

Yeah, pretty well-known trick. More light than I need...
