S14 Kouki rant

Dangit. As soon as I graduate high school, and get some funds and a better job... I swear, S14 koukis are getting out of hand. 12k easy for a decent mileaged one. The consumer guide says 8-9k!!! I wish!!!

Im glad they are strong on the re-sell, but holy hell!

The grandparents say they will help me buy a newer, lower mileage car for college. Something like an Integra. And if that happens, they told me I can keep the S13. BUT!!! Im going to TRY to find a nice Kouki and try to talk them into it.

Hopes and prayers guys, help me out!!!!!!

The blue-book doesn't take in consideration the recent increase in popularity caused by drifting and what not, 12k is a lot of money, but a mint S14 kouki is worth every penny of that. Good condition DC Integras are not cheap, especially the GSR and Type R (the only 2 models that are worth a damn). If you can't afford a kouki, it's not the end of the world, at least you still have the S13.

No, not the end of the world. But I really dont want a FWD. I cringe when I hear that(or type it).

BTW, I like watching your sig over, and over, and over, and over. And over.

+ Koukis are so so sexy.

The average cost that I see recently is over $10,000 and as high as like $12,500-13,000. With that said, the one I picked up recently was originaly $10,500. I got it down under $10,000 though. It was extremely low mileage, about 52,000 and very very clean. You can see it in my topic a little while back. But I wouldn't expect to find the deal very often. You should be expecting to pay anywhere from $10,000-12,000 for one with low mileage and most likely more for one as low mileage as the one I picked up.

Wow. Mmm, if I could find one around here with miles like that, and anywhere in that range. Its mine. You have yourself a beauty of a car there.

I suppose its time to start making phone calls. My folks dont believe that I can find a Kouki with low miles. At all. But even if I do...an Integra is better. Because its honduh. ::rant::

Were all the Kouki models 5-lugs? I know the SE was, but was the LE as well? Hmm...

If and that's a big if you can find it, the price range shouldn't be a problem. But finding the model with low mileage is hard. Most of the ones I saw in Southern California were about 100,000 miles and higher with the price still beginning around $10,000.

The base model is 4lug, the SE is 5lug, the LE is an option I think.

I was told that all of the 97-98's were 5 lug. Just the SE's were on 95-96. And if you could find a Zenki with low miles, it would be a lot cheaper and you could just do a kouki front end conversion or something, but I am warning you, once you look at the Zenki everyday, it gets addictive. I was planning on doing the conversion, and then I decided to say screw it and get a nice smooth looking kit.

Now that you mention it, I don't recall ever seeing a 4lug kouki, I just assumed it was like the Zenkis.....

Ohh man. I love Zenkis. Prob. more-so than a Kouki. But the grandparents will only help me out if it falls in the right years and mileage. Thats why Im looking for the Kouki. But I was trying to get enough money by myself to get a decent Zenki, but I dont know how that would go.

Tell your gramps that even if the car is a 1995 and has 150,000miles, if it's well maintained, itll last and be a great car.

I know a guy if he still has it that is selling a 97 240sx with like 30g miles but it a automatic for like 7,500.

x~Underoath~x
05-20-2005, 08:51 AM
Well automatics can be "fixed". And The whole reason for a low mileage car is: So teh parents and grandparents wont have to worry about me, as I drive to and from college in the fall. And the rest of my college career. And my mom thinks all 240s are "a piece of shit". Ive got some 'splainin' to do.

GSR2NR94
05-20-2005, 10:07 AM
no shit. Have they ever had one? I doubt it. So how can they assume they are shit? I would definately not go with an automatic though because it is annoying as hell to drive until you do the swap, and unless you have a ton of integrity, most people end up not even getting it done. I am not saying that you wouldn't do it because it's not that hard to do, but people just blow it out of proportion. I bought a 92 S13 Auto and I was going to do the swap, then it got really annoying waiting to find one, so I sold it and used some extra money to buy my S14.

The Zenkis are nice... I'd just get the German Headlights and the JDM Aero Bumper.

240SXSlideStar

German headlights are a must, nothing worst then those shitty yellowish lights.

GSR2NR94
05-20-2005, 11:09 AM
I used a pollishing wheel and some compound, and polished the yellow right out of my lights. Now they look brand new. Those German glass headlights are nice, but they are like $500 almost arent they?

240SXSlideStar
05-20-2005, 06:20 PM
Yeah, but they are glass, not plastic so if down the line you put some HIDs in, the housing won't melt. lol

Josh's parents DO speak from experience. He owns an 89-90 style 240 hatch right now. Quite a few problems from what he tells me, hence his parents are apprehensive of him getting a higher mileage car again. It sucks bro, finding the new car is always hard as hell. Hey, Josh got a great idea. You send me the money somehow and Ill get you one from up here and drive it and my s13 down when I visit this summer. All supposing I find one. Hit me later on Aim

Hmm. I found a really low mileage zenki today. I showed mom and she said if I get it, it will have to be with my own money. Because no one will help me with a 1995. IT had 60k miles. But she is set on some sort of fwd something that I dont want anything to do with. For the same mileage, less money, and 3-4 years difference. I dont get it. So now, we dont talk much, because, since I said Id buy it with my own money...Im ungrateful.

Parents are so unreasonable. I know what you mean. I think they are the ungrateful ones. They don't appreciate the fact that you found a love for cars and a true hobby. They don't think about the fact that being able to work on your car is way better than being bored and doing drugs. Sometimes, parents don't appreciate things, or think before they speak. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but sometimes they can be just as dumb as we are. They make the same mistakes, do the same shit, and yet, we are the ones who get judged. Damn hypocritical parents. Oh, well. Can't live with em, cant live without em.

well i have an 89 240 with 210k miles on it. and it is perfectly fine. the onlything that i had to do with the motor was replace the injector seals. i mean i would be sitting in traffic and almost pass out from the fumes.i bought the car for 2 grand because it was a well maintained car and had all the records of what had been done.

it all depends on how the car was maintained and driven.

i think a lot of it has to do witht he fact that our parents dont know the cars that we as a generation love. I mean i talk about a skyline and my moms is all like huh?? i explain it a bit and show her some pics and shes like ok i could see how you'd like it, but i dont think she trust's the car. i think its unfamiliarity our parents have with import cars, they didnt grow up with them, and if they did they grew up with the third rate versions that the JDM manufacturers dicided to release in north america. just my :2cents:

well my dad is extremly white and hates all japanese things. he wanted me to get a saturn. but i was so damn persistant on getting a 240, that he said fuck it and bought me the car.

x~Underoath~x
05-22-2005, 01:40 AM
Im near the point of giving in, telling them to buy me whatever they want me to. And keeping the S13 and dumping all my money into it. That is if I cant talk my Grandparents into this Zenki I found.

But still its a 1995!!!! Ohh no! Ohh yeah, in case you guys didnt know. 1995s didnt have airbags. Or strong frames, because my mom knows SO much about some S14 frame rigity! Hahaha. They have to give in sometime.

RPS13freak, check PMs!!!

So you didn't buy it for 2 grand.

actually it was my money. i worked for it at my job. but he said he would pay for the tag and help me out with insurance. before he gave in he said he wouldnt pay for it at all. at the time i didnt have enough money for the tag and insurance down pament.

plus he got the car when i was at school that day (he knew where my money was). we had checked it out the day before and he was like well its got alot of miles on it. then when i got home i was like who cares it was great condition and ran perfectly (exept for the injector seals of course). so when i saw the car in my driveway i knew he either gave in or was messing with me the night before.

LMAO. No airbags on the 95? Hmmm, last time I checked, their was a big bubbley thing in the middle of my steering wheels and also on the passenger dash. And the frame? Well then how is that one of the most popular drift cars in the world if the frame is so shitty? They are older than us though, they must know everything.

Hmm. Ive been thinking alot about this lately. And Im really considering telling them to buy me whatever they feel comfy with. Then keeping my S13 and making it über. I need a new motor, and suspension. Really bad. But, I really dont know if I should do that or not. With 240k miles on the car. Would building this car up be the wisest choice? I love my Nissan. I just need some advice.

Edit: I need advice/encouragement.

If you have enough money and if its ok with your parents, I would swap in a redtop, get some coilovers, and then go from there. If not, then keep on tying to convince them that you want an S14. Tell them that you have fallen in love with them and you will even pay for a mechanic to inspect it to make sure it is in tip top shape. I don't know how strict your parents are, but I hope maybe these couple ideas might be possible.

Josh, you know what be a man. You are 18 now, buy something of your choice. If they are not willing to help you out, youve said you got a nice sum of cash do it yourself. Much more rewarding to get what you want on your own.

well next year after i graduate my parents are giving me $4000. by that time i plan on having most of my suspension done and have a little more money to throw in, hoping aroung 2 grand or so. with that 6grand or more im hoping to get a black top and do the whole fuel system (fuel rail, injectors, fuel pump, and full management). but the engine is once we move up to orlando that summer. dont want to drive up there with the sr20.

x~Underoath~x
05-23-2005, 06:32 PM
As of now, I have ~$3500...And Id like to get a blacktop since they are a bit newer. But I think I still have some saving to do. I also thought about a CA. But an SR is way newer, and has a little more to it. Every time I look at the 13, I fall in love all over again. I think I need to be nice to it and pair it with an SR. I think I do.

Maybe If I were rich, I could afford it.

id rather fall in love with my car instead of a girl. that means commitment and less money going towards the car. you can have a one night stand.
