Smoke coming out when starting91toy 05-18-2005, 05:00 PM Hi again I was just wondering what would cause my car to blow white smoke out of the exhaust only when it is starting. And it has sat for a few hours it will last for a couple minutes and go away. just wondering if anyone new what would cause this. gator2764 05-19-2005, 06:11 AM Most likely your valve guide seals are worn. Rings as well. How many miles do you have on the car? Brian R. 05-19-2005, 12:34 PM White smoke normally comes from a bad head gasket. A leak between the water jacket and one of the cylinders will cause some coolant to go into the cylinder after the engine is shut off. It is burned upon start-up. Get it fixed. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
