How to tell what kind of engine you have ?JCL82 05-16-2005, 03:20 PM I was looking in the manual and it says it's in the vin and like the 8th number/letter over and is the type of engine..However there was nothing in the manual to tell you what kind of engine. It would be once you found that 8th number/letter.Soo anyone know where i would get that info ? It's a 02' silverrado. 01Blackerado 05-16-2005, 04:12 PM it should say it on the little plastic fan shroud under the hood BlenderWizard 05-16-2005, 04:39 PM I also have an '02. My engine size decal is located on top of my air cleaner box. BlenderWizard 05-17-2005, 06:28 PM Hehe I started a thread asking the same question a while back. Here it is http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=393409 I use the "no-Touch Tirefoam method. If you're gonna clean it, keep it clean. It's a lot easier to keep it clean than to have REALLY degrease it and scrub the crap out of it. silveradoking 05-17-2005, 08:40 PM I wash my engine every two weeks....I clean engine is a good engine...... BlenderWizard 05-17-2005, 09:13 PM I wash my engine every two weeks....I clean engine is a good engine...... My thoughs exactly. I've had my truck for almost 2 months and have cleaned the engine twice. I usually wait for a little dust to settle on the "vortec" intake cover before re-cleaning. jethro_3 05-17-2005, 09:54 PM Now that I have no fan shroud sticking out it makes me want to clean the front cross members and sway bar. I use the engine degreaser every other time at the car wash but never thought about the No Touch. The local Autozone was selling all there stock at 99 cents a can so I cleaned out 5 local stores for 12 cans. 2 washes per can I am set for a while. I use the No Touch on the running boards, tires, wheel wells and the mud flaps. Unlike Armor All No Touch does not act like a magnet to dust and also is not slick so my 6 year olds don't slide down the boards. It also doesn't seem to leave any kind of a sheen jethro_3 05-17-2005, 10:04 PM True, true.... I am looking for the black plastic to match my semi-gloss black grille and bumpers and the No TOuch does that very well and also does not attract the dust. jeverett 05-18-2005, 07:24 AM I think maybe the first thing I'll clean is my K&N filter..it kinda looks ...bad. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
