Tire widthsairtight_python 05-16-2005, 12:54 AM I'm curious about the widest tires some of you have put on your 99-02 2WD Light Duty. Would 275's or even 285's rub in the front? TexasF355F1 05-16-2005, 12:19 PM When I had my 17's I had 275/40's in the front and some 305's in the back. No rubbing. I am currently running 275/35/20's with no rubbing. It really all depends on backspacing. airtight_python 05-16-2005, 01:09 PM When I had my 17's I had 275/40's in the front and some 305's in the back. No rubbing. If you had a 2WD Silverado that were dropped 2/4 and you wanted to run 275/45/20s, what would be a good backspacing that would keep it from rubbing and keep the tires tucked under or just level with the fenders? I believe the recommended backspacing is 5.5. Don't quote me on that, but I'm almost postive. Mechs02 05-23-2005, 11:12 AM I'm running 305/50R20s, i get a lil bit of rubbing when im at full turn, not a biggy, just a lil trimming on the plastic inner fender. however, i took a bit of a performance drive abotu a month ago and noticed that at a good compression the top of the tires at the edge will touch the metal part of the fender.....sends lil rubber cheese grated bits around. Think i may need a jounce kit for any serious road courses. sportin83 05-23-2005, 12:16 PM i am running 305-40-22's and i have a slight rub in the plastic line but i took a heat gun and formed the liners back a little bit. it still rubs at a sharp turn but just barely. nineball481 05-23-2005, 05:08 PM I'm running 295/45r20 front and back, No rubbing what so ever. The wider tire gives the truck a better looking stance, IMO. My particular size has enough rubber on it that it dosen't sacrifice the performance/ride either. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
