I finally did it. I took the time to take some pictures of my car. Mostly just the exterior. Ummm, I hope you enjoy it. It's really plain right now. And I am in desperate need for some rims and to lower it. Here's the link.

I put the pictures in the wrong folder and was too lazy to change it so it says My Monitor as of now. Might take some time to load.

http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=bh04&P=DEF0&AID=2447000&Pres=Y

Let me know what you think of it. ANd any suggestions on what I could do to make it look better. Thanks.

Big ole bottle of simple green. Super concentrated... wet down engine bay, spray SG all over engine bay and let sit 10-15 min. Get hose and rinse till no more suds appear. Get a towl you don't want anymore and wipe everything down. And i mean everything..... you luck out with your car being a dark color. It dosn't show as much dirt as a white one does. But if i can get mine this clean, so can you..

Oh there is also some other stuff i used, but its a secreat what i use to make everything look like new. Simple Green gets all the dirt/grease/oil off and what have you.

how about my CAI, how should I locate that under my hood for it to get the best suction possible?

bh04

oh and also how do i fix that gap between the bottom of my headlights and the bumper?

Classicrocjunkie
05-16-2005, 12:04 AM
What you have shown in your photos is a warm air intake. You need to remove that black box where your old air filter use to sit. Then your intake will sit where its suppose to sit, and ebay intakes aren't the best.

bh04
05-16-2005, 12:41 AM
whats the easiest way of removing that? and once again, that stupid gap between my front bumper nad headlights? its so annoying and ugly!

PsychoJJ
05-16-2005, 01:02 AM
Stock air box removel is easy. If its like mine and its bolted in simply remove the hardware and slip it out. If its just in there with clips or something simply grab and pull. Better yet...rip the sum bitch out of there. As for the engine I as well used simple green a hose and for after everything was dry I use I think its called dc2 engine detailer or its bc2 or something somthing 2 hell if I can remember. As for the gap, its not really too noticable on the pictures or maybe Im just not seeing it.

Classicrocjunkie
05-16-2005, 01:07 AM
To remove it you have to remove your battery. Look for bolts holding it in place. There are some inside the box it self and maybe 1-2 more outside it somewhere i forgot actually. Then its a matter of tugging it out of the support bracket. Then your head lights just look like they need to be adjust or somthing. All you need to do it place with them to get them to sit right. When you put the clear corners on, you may have no set them right.

Ghost-CAVy
05-16-2005, 01:55 AM
dude even if you pull the air box out it'll never be a true cold intake , what your going to end up with is just a short ram air induction system...if you want cold air your going to need like 3-4 feet of tube that sits right behind the grill on your front bumper

bh04
05-16-2005, 04:29 AM
ya I guess thats whay I get for buying an ebay pile of crap. but it doesn't seem to hard to remove that box. but before i do, I should probably get a new intake. any suggestions? I will have to mess around with my headlights to see if I can get rid of that ugly gap.

Gotta love the sarcasim. Haha, jk. Ya htose stock rims are bangin arne't they....? Ya right.

I gots a story for ya'll.

I went back home for the weekend and told my mom what I planned on doing. Selling my computer, and using the money to buy some rims. She freaks out and yells at me saying how I have a nice computer and shouldn't sell it and all this crap. So she offers me a deal which I accepted.

The deal was that she would pay my bills for a month so I can save my money to buy rims and save the computer as well. THAT WAS AWESOME. She told me that if she was going to do this, I can't spend any of my money on video games, or anything stupid like that and that I stay out of trouble....those two conditons were it. I was all over that deal.

I just thought I'd share this story. Might sound stupid but I like it.

Ah, the sweet sweet days of perental support....wait a second my parents never did a thing for me even when I lived with them. They kicked me out of school a semester before I graduated so I could "get a job to have more money" for when they kicked me out at 18. :eek7:

Good deal and all but now Im just a little bitter. *goes to call his parents*

Yeah, and you damn sure better make it happen to. Im sure anyone of us would have jumped at that offer as well had one of our parents set it on the table. Maybe you should get her a nice thank you gift. Perhaps a fruit basket with many colorful fruits? That would be nice. Perhaps some papia? I love saying that....papia. :bananasmi

In response to ur worries about the gap between the headlights and bumper: It apears to me to be more stock than defective. the corner lights and grill seem perfectly aligned to the bumper. the headlight do have a slight gap but it's hardly noticable. and u need rims

yeah. rims.rims would be nice.... :icon16:

Do you think a nice set of gunmetal would look nice? I was thinking that they would. Or beings my car is dark a nice set of chrome or silver.

PsychoJJ

I would go with black but thats just my biassed opinion due to the fact that I love the look of black rims on the car. Maybe a set of black rims with a chrome lip?

I was thinking tonight, since my car is failry dark with the tinted windows and the green paint...a ncie set of 18" chrome or silver wheels would make my car stand out. I think i'm going to go with a silver or chrome, or anything that is "bright" for my darker colored Cavy!

How does your system sound?

bh04
05-19-2005, 12:50 PM
How does your system sound?

It's fairly loud I guess. I haven't got it tested dB wise, but I hope to do so soon. I had a friend take my car around the neighborhood and have it turned up to where I usually listen to it, and see how far I can hear it. It ended up being about 3 3½ blocks away.

Oh and my muffler I guess is loud and can be heard coming from quite aways away also. A lot of people says it's loud, but I want louder. It's kinda cool to hear them say I can hear you coming from 3 blocks away with your subs and your stupid muffler. I just laugh

But my neighborhood is a quite one, not a lot of crap happens here.

bh04
05-19-2005, 05:23 PM
It doesn't sound distoreted or anything. The only problem I have is, that I dont have my passenger rear 6x9 fully screwed down, so when my subs are going, the speaker rattles. And I have a minor rattle from the trunk and underneath my rear bumper also.

bh04

bh04, im not putting down your car at all, but whats with taking off your hub caps??? I drive american cars and i sometime put down the Honda's. Now one think i put them down for this the pissed off weed wacker sound comming from there exost. that seems like a honda think, you do have an american car, dont you??? So why would you put a honda thing on an American car?why? other then that the car looks good.

Well it was during wrinter when I had all four hub caps on. But driving around in the wintertime, using my e-brake to go around corners, some how in some way, one of the hub caps fell off. And me personally dont like only haveing 3 hub caps on at one, so I took the other 3 off.

This happened 2 other times, not jsut in the winter, they just fell off. So that is why I dont have any hub caps on.

As for my muffler. It is actually not a weed wacker sound nor a honda rice sound. It is hard to explain the sound. I can record the sound some how, and make it into WAV file for you to hear.

I really do like suggestions and input on stuff, so I am not mad or upset in any way. It's your opinion and people are entitled to opinions. I like hearing them. Thanks for your time to write up something to actually make me think about doing something about improving the look of my car

As for 18" rims. I just like the look of them. To be honest I don't do much "street racing" or any racing from a green light to the next red light anymore. I don't do that anymore. I just want something that will make my Cavalier stand out from the others around my town.

Thats sounds great. in not a street racer anymore. I have worked in the ER and In Pharmacy as a Pharmacist. After seeinf so many kids get killed from racing, no promised myself i would never street race agine. But like i said before, your car looks cool. About the hub caps, what you said does make sence. i would probley do the samething what you have done.

Besides, I honestly don't see the point in street racing. Maybe if my car was worthy of it, I....well I still wouldn't. I like my car, and I want it to look good, and not go fast, allthought it would be nice. But thats why they have speed limits. I Never follow them, I go over them of course....speed limit is 60, ill go 64, speed limit is 25, ill go 30.

I want a good looking car.

here in Nebraska, you can have pretty much any color under your car, just as long as the bulbs aren't showing. your not supposed to have any color showing to the front, but our state attorney is trying to get that so you can.....i talked to the last cop that pulled me over for like 20 minutes about underglow and whats legal or nothe was an awesome cop. i have never really met one that was a dick.

Cops love me :frown: I've been pulled over for speeding, improper use of a turnway for traffic, driving without my headlights on, having the wrong plate on my car, and to be asked if I had drugs in my car. 3 different cities and 4 different police departments. 2) yes the B&M's are nice. They decrease the throw of the shifter allowing for faster shifting. But i hear if you drive it in the winter, get a nice mitton for it because they are cold as fuck..

most lower thir car to be the same height of stock though. for some reason people seem to want to put 18's and 20's on cavalier's. so when they put the 18's on they lower it so the gap doesn't look so bad.

Lowering your car is one thing, slamming it is another. ALOT of people have their cars slammed below the best point for performance. Which on a J-body is 1.5"s. Alot of lowering kits are 1.7" which is in a way slammed. If you search around in here for posts i made with pics of my car, it is at 1.4" with the Eibach Prokit. It gets rid of a good amout of wheel gap, but give you plently leeway if your car has a kit.

The bolt hole on your valve cover was for a mount w/ a clip for the spark plug wires. I have it on my 99' Cavy. I don't think it goes all the way through so you should be able to clean it w/o any worries!
For the rims, definately go #2!

Those rims look pretty nice. The spokes look a little small in my opinion but it could just be the pic unless they actually are a little small. Im just overly paranoid so smaller spokes on a rim make me think Im going to snap the spokes on high speed cornering. :lol2:

I've been told that the spokes do look small, but when I recieve them on Friday and get them put on, I will deffinatly (spelling?) post a picture for you all to see. I am so excited about getting them.

Personally, I haven't seen a Cavy with those small of a spoke rims, so it will be different and I think they actually will look nice and BIG!!!
