i have a 92 dodge stealth es dohc auto and my computer is bad. i was wondering if you can by a replacement computer at an auto parts store and put it in. i have priced this at $200. Or do you have to buy it and take it to a dealer and have it programmed. i have heard that you have to have it programmed but it doesnt make any sense because it has a chip(pretty sure) and is not programmable. so i think i can just buy it and put it in. Does anybody know anything about this am i right any help would be appreciated?

first I would check to see if your computer has the battery caps bad like so many cars like ours do its not a matter of if they go bad its a matter of when they go bad if thats all it is you can change them yourself if you know how to solder or have somebody do it for you battery caps cost less then 10 bucks. If its not the caps I think its just a swap out with a new computer and dont have to be programed good luck
